One of the Knicks invited me to a hot tub party this weekend -- and I said no! That's when I knew for sure, I really got it bad. Is it weird that I'm way more into Teddy now that he's gone? Don't get me wrong, I was plenty into him while he was here. He doesn't know this, but I had him in my sights for weeks before he approached me at Light. I made him work for it, but I always knew I wanted him. And now that he's away, I want him even harder.

So what's a girl to do? I mean, here I am, embarking on the most significant relationship I've been in since high school (not counting Professor Dimples, of course), and the rug gets completely yanked out from under my feet. I finally let my guard down, give up some freedom and put myself out there when POOF! Away he goes, leaving behind memories we didn't get the chance to create and a faint man scent on my pillow.

But whatever. I'm just venting, I can deal with it. It's just… I miss you, Hanssen. I really do.

Last night, someone in a more social context said to me – Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder. I couldn't help but reflect on this phrase from the more traditional meaning – The lack of something increases the desire for it.

Origin: The Roman poet Sextus Propertius gave us the earliest form of this saying in Elegies:

Always toward absent lovers love's tide stronger flows.

The contemporary version appears first as the title of an anonymous English poem in 1602. It wasn't until the 19th century that the phrase began to be used more widely, with Thomas Haynes Bayly's (1797-1839) song Isle of Beauty, published posthumously in 1850:

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, Isle of Beauty, Fare thee well!

In the context of the work on absence and emptiness my thought is this:

The experience of absence is beyond any concept of self, there is no self to observe the experience of absence. In fact, there is nothing to observe. Not nothing in the sense that there is empty, vaccuous space. Nothing in the sense that no-thing exists – even emptiness. The effect of this on the heart seems to be more clarity, more pristine capacity for the heart to be it's very nature.

A quick google search revealed nothing about a guy named teddy Hanssen.
Just a thought, but do you guys think there is actually a knicks player? She says "One of the Knicks invited me to a hot tub party this weekend" Is this the ny nicks basketball team, or what im on my phone right now, can someone ask her who the knick was. ie his name.

Is this wishful thinking or what? Cause this blog makes it pretty clear that she may not be a swinger, but she's currently single.

 		Ted Hanssen, on google, brings up an OOG .PDf circa 2003.

Teddy boy is definitely a fictional character, but is this character important to the story?

 		Generally, you want to give your characters backstory, and having HUD and Hawk fighting, Rob kinda liking beth, all of that is great development. So is Jamie having a past relationship outside of the group.

But its one thing to mention that person in passing, and another to casually drop his full name.

I'd bet money its a clue.

Now, whether we can use it now or two months from now... I'm feeling pessimistic.

 		I did a quick search on google and teddy is not a knicks ( http://www.nba.com/knicks/roster/ ) But when I searched fot the "Light" Club in NYC the first result was this URL IG site maybe? I woulda done a whois but I don't have time.

 		the only Club Light I found is in Vegas at The Bellagio

edit: nvm, found a Club Spotlight in NYC as well - light could be short for spotlight? just a thought
