Spielberg didn't write Jaws, but when you watch Jaws you think three things.

John Williams, Steven Spielberg, and "Damnit, Richard Dreyfuss has the most annoying voice"

Spielberg had final say on what the shark looked like, and decided that it wasn't to be fully revealed until the end of the movie.

1 out of 3, eh (you forgot Roy Scheider).

Spielberg directed Jaws. Matt Reeves is said to be directing "Cloverfield".

What I'm saying is, we have no proof that J.J. is going to be the only person responsible for the Monsters back story. Which, given the format of the movie, we probably won't get in the movie.

I personally love your rendition of the theory. But two things strike out.

1= Numerology. After the FAILED attempt to bring numerology in the Limelight (SEE!?! I MADE A RUSH PUN) I would doubt another filmmaker as smart as JJ would attempt something that would for sure drive him into the dirt. Besides if I bothered the Geddy Scientists enough (And or took away the supply of Twinkies and Ho-ho's in the lab) they could somehow link the numbers of 1 18 08 to any number of things.

2 = Iron Maiden did it better.

LOL at the 2nd comment. Off topic i know but, You listen to Dream Theater at all Truthspeaker? I know many DT fans are also Rush fans...
Mabye... the monster is...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Tom Sawyer in a Red Barchetta listening to the Spirit of the Radio while on a Witch Hunt!
Very Happy

*ahem*

Anyways, Interesting idea... but with the current lack of evidence, ANYTHING could work... except a robot, because they arent alive. Razz

All you've really got here is:

1. J.J. used Bible references in Lost.
2. It's been argued that the monster might be chimera-like, i.e., a blending of various animals. There are no solid references or hints about this - it's a theory and it's pure speculation. (and, I'm one of those speculators, so I've got nothing against it).
3. There are 18 versus in Chapter 13 of Revelations. (but, like Jim Carey in "The Number 23" I'm sure we can find many instances of the number 18 if we start lookin').
4. A seamonster, i.e., "Leviathan," is involved in Revelations.

5. The fact that there are lions/Big Cats involved in your painting/picture is completely irrelevant. People thought they heard "it's a lion!" Those people were wrong. So, stop with the @^%#$ Lions already!

Anyway, what you've got is a vague possibility, but it's very thin. I like the general idea, but I just don't see any real convincing reason to believe things will go this way
Anyway, just FYI.

1) JJ used Bible references in LOST yes, so why not in a movie? Or an ARG/viral marketing campaign for a movie

2) I referred to the fire ability of the monster to that big f*** off explosion in the trailer, granted that could have been created by an explosion from gas or whatever else, but that was a rather large explosion. I didnt say "It's a Chimera"

3) Yeah i know that 1-18 / 18 could come up anywhere, i found in conincedental that it happened to come up in the only full Apocalyptic book in the bible, in the exact chapter that also happens to talk about all the other links we have picked up/debated upon/debunked about the monster

4) Yeah... and?

5) Read my post again :
Quote:
It also talks about a multiple headed monster (which conincedentally looks like a Leopard - Big Cat - And has the mouth of a Lion)

The main link i talked about was the multiple heads, which after the roar is perhaps the biggest theory i've heard, i then go on to say "coincedentally the monster looks like a Leopard/Big Cat - and the text says it has the mouth of a lion" - Key word : Coincedentally. I never once said "OMFG i have exact proof that the monster is a lion"

Its a theory and its pure speculation

NOTE: Thread labelled [SPEC] ie. Speculation. And if you can find me a theory for this movie that does have proof (which isnt a poster or a script they happened to stumble on/get from a secret guy onset) then fair enough.
