Sick, as in "That was a sick trick." or sick as in "I threw up and it was really sick."?
Both...

I think this could be something that flakes off the creature. But it's quite odd that this trailer hasn't been seen. It has to be fake.

Either:
A) The monster,
B) Monster for another film,
C) A really good sculpt by an artist with too much time on his hands.
I'm rooting for B and C.

to be honest if the monster looked something similar to that....it'd be pretty badass. I like how it looks personally, although it is similar to the Host monster, I think they are both badass new monsters.
Kudos to you for that piece of eh...mind opening data.

Wow, that looks like the ass end of a T-Rex crapping out a gorilla.
Now that sir is an incredible bit of humor.
Disturbingly accurate as well.
Somehow this just doesn't look to me to be THE monster, and doesn't seem aquatic enough. Based on a good variety of things we've seen THE monster is bound to be aquatic in nature or origin.
At least with a tail like that, he can scratch his own butt...
...if only he didn't have a gorilla sticking out of it.

Hey guys, sorry to say, but that's NOT a creature design of the monster for Cloverfield/1.18.08. It's a re-imagining of the "Id Monster" from the sci-fi classic "Forbidden Planet", sculpted by the incredible Tony McVey. I've been a huge fan of his work for years, so I know all of his stuff well from his website. Check it out: http://www.menagerieproductions.com/fig/fig_idm.html
Sorry to dissappoint:(

It is quite awesome and scary, though.
