Very interesting.....I noticed on the blog there are no dates. Maybe we'll have to use the numbers in parenthesis to figure out the date when Julian Barnesworth was in each of the places mentioned.

If you "hover" above the time stamp, the date appears...

Ah..thanks:)

Barnesworth's Blog titles...
First of all, he calls it "Appointments" hmmm...

In descending order, from newest to oldest...(with a link to his "fete" thrown in)...we have:

(20.02) - Budapest, Hungary
2007-09-02T06:26:00-07:00

(8.02) - Oxford, England
2007-08-20T15:15:00-07:00

(28.55) - Weston-super-mare, England (which throws off my thinking that it was a time of some sort, unless they've added hours to the day?)
2007-08-12t16:14:00-07:00

(22.55) Bath, England
2007-08-06T08:12:00-07:00

(21.55) - Bath, England
2007-08-06T08:12:00-07:00

(20.55) - Nice, France
2007-08-04T13:19:00-07:00

(18.55) - Grasse, France
2007-08-02T07:29:00-07:00

(15.55) - Grasse, France (with a link to:http://www.ville-grasse.fr/jasminade/default.htm)
2007-07-30T10:19:00-07:00

(15.09) - New York, NY
2007-06-30T09:47:00-07:00

And that's all I got...any of you brilliant minds want to chomp on that for a bit?

To tell you the truth, even I don't know... i was at that point where i was clicking EVERYTHING and not even thinking.... sleep deprivation + aggravation + addiction = desperation!
It MAY have something to do with the fact that i registered (for the free account only) and I did put Barnes K in my "work" history, but for all I know, the account owner decided to change his name from "owner" to the "real" name, 5 seconds before i hit a button that refreshed the screen.
I may have hit that "make Owner a part of your network" clink too. Maybe a combination of these things... i dont know..

Seems to me, that this site wouldn't want people coming in and making a bunch of fake entries even on the free account setting and that it would just let us have what we were looking for after we explored the site a little while.

ncfriend

I just added Barnes as a prior employer but still couldn't get the public page for JB. I have spent several hours and have not been able to find this public page thru any channel, so I'm wondering how we would have found this guy's page w/o actually knowing his name to begin with. Anyone have more ideas?

I know that, from what I've experienced with LinkedIn, you have to have some amount of identifying information to find the person in question...

for example, if I search for people that work at my current employer, it will show the various positions, but no names...unless they have that option turned on...

BUT if I go through my own profile page (ie home page, like in myspace, the "behind the scenes stuff") I can see all the people on linkedin that have my same employer, the people that are on that I have their email, etc.

It's an interesting site, and good for networking for work contacts.

My guess is that, at least initially, you, ncfriend could see the name because you were part of the company...then "they" may have realized the error, and fixed it somewhere in the meantime.

The interwebbernets can be mean. And I'm willing to bet "they" are watching us...or perhaps "they" are among us... Shifty Eyes

Are you still not able to see the name?

Linkedin

The only way I can see JB's name is I registered an account, confirmed my email, and posted that I was a Barnes K employee. It then asked if I wanted to invite JB to join my network. I couldn't view his public page but that's how I got his name.

Finally

Yes, I finally had to hit reconnect with colleagues, add Barnes, a job title, and years worked. Then it brought up some names. I guess that's me not using my head and not knowing how to use inlinked. Thanks for helping me figure it out everyone.

THE CHALLENGE

This is my first post...YAY!!!! I just started the case on Sunday and have completed all the challenges!!!
I was able to find his name through a different source than "Lady" Le "Praise" GLP...I'm wondering what I might have missed. Can someone clue me in on the mime.mp3 and how I might locate it?

jb

ok, so I slept through the whole challenge ... sigh ... anyway, now that i'm all caught up (BTW, that was alot of reading, you guys did an awesome job). I started looking a JB's blog trying to figure out what the numbers mean ... If you look at them the order they were posted ... the numbers increase accordingly, except for the last two (aka the first two listed). It's like they're out of order.

If they do mean latitude and longitude, for the first set, 20.02.
20°N 2°W is Tombouctou, Mali
20 N 2 E is Kidal, Mali
20 S 2 E is Type: Water: 924 km (574 mi.) from land
20 S 2 W is Type: Water: 590 km (367 mi.) from land

Now the one image on her post is a waxing cresent (young or increasing)

the other image came from this site
http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/students/97to98/exhibits/img_clhm.gif

if you delete the last part is come to
http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/students/97to98/exhibits/

the site is Lines of Faith
Instruments and Religious
Practice in Islam

moon phases are used in Wiccan/Pagan Religions

I don't know why they would bring religion into a game, it's some thing thats so controversal

It is an image of an islamic lunar calendar....I did the same thing you did...opened the source code and tracked back the images.

I think we may be looking for a constellation in the night sky---using the numbers in () as the altitude/azimuth along with the geographic coordinates of the cities listed and the time of day of the posting.

Or perhaps the moon phase for that day but that does bring in the numbers in ().....

Barnesworth is a sailor so this makes sense- he would know how to use a sextant.
