[OT / Social] Image Pool, Hello, "Clean" Monstrous Poster

Hi All:

I'm a 1-18-08/Cloverfield blogger. My primary motivation for joining is to introduce y'all to my blog. So, there, at least I'm honest.

Beyond that, given your community's excellent showing on the subject (i.e. I've lost count of how many times unfiction was credited for progressing the game), I'd venture that if anyone can appreciate (read: not be intimidated by) my blog, they can be found here at unfiction. Of course I hope you'll see for yourselves, but I've designed the blog to give me the latest on 1-18-08/Cloverfield at a glance. To do that I've tapped technorati, blogsearch, bloglines, etc., as well as combined all the 1-18-08/Cloverfield specific feeds from other blogs (and their comments) so that by checking the blog I, in effect, check dozens of sites at once.

The blog is non-commercial by the way, so this isn't me trying to make a buck.

For what it's worth, one possible recent item of interest that I don't believe has gotten around is the surfacing of a clean version of the Monstrous poster. At least I think it's clean: http://11808.blogspot.com/2007/09/clean-version-of-monstrous-poster.html

Lastly, I've started a group on Flickr to pool all the 1-18-08 images from around the web. If you're interested: http://11808.blogspot.com/2007/09/1-18-08-flickr-poolslide-show-is.html

Personally I think that specific poster doesnt look very clean to me. If you look at the robe of the statue of liberty on the bottom, it looks blurry and a bit like it was drawn in by a computer program... That's just me, I could be going blind.

Also, the 'Monstrous' lettering is sloping up to the right. Dead give-away.

lestat5891work, FTTM: While I appreciate a healthy dose of skepticism, the poster actually compares quite favorably: http://11808.blogspot.com/2007/08/posters.html

Also, if you click through to where I found it (http://dsonesheet.blogspot.com/2007/09/cloverfield-poster.html), you'd be hard pressed to argue the blogger who posted it shows any signs of having an agenda or a motive for faking it. The only problem with the image that I've found is its small size and lack of attribution. I have made inquiries with Filmdiva, but she has yet to respond.

Eddy, I agree that those posters match. Take a look at the lower half of the Statue of Liberty. Her folds in her robes just look horrible. Not only that, but there's pictures of the poster with the words at top, there's pictures of the poster without the paramount logo, and there's pictures with both there and gone. Too much variation.

Besides, I would think even if they released a poster with absolutely nothing in it but landscape, I'd imagine that Paramount would release it themselves, despite the viral nature of the marketing for this film. I just can't agree that those are anything but fan-made posters.

lestat5891work: Well, the authenticity of the blank, Furious and Terrifying posters really isn't in question. Nor is the existence of a Monstrous poster. What's been lacking up until now is a digital to digital version of the Monstrous poster. Or to put it another way, the only images of the Monstrous poster online to date have been digital photos take by fans.
