I'd rather wait around the house today, waiting for Ty's e-mail but unfortunately I have to go to class in a little bit

An email from Ty in reference to the bookcrossing posts

Quote:

You heard right. I've released it, and it may cross your path.

So those notes on bookcrossing are legit.

I figured that. Funny thing is, I put the codes into the manuscript for
fun. Thought it'd be nice and creepy. The marketing guys thought so too
and included them in this puzzle.

Glad you like it! There is a way to get around buying the book (don't
tell my publisher I said that). The password is out there in the clear,
actually. Didn't seem right to absolutely *require* people to buy it in
order to proceed.

I think that's about all I can say about the title codes--feel free to
ask specific questions if you want, but I reserve the right to just
ignore them!

My reply...

Quote:
There is an entire myriad of people itching to discover this password.

And believe it or not, I was more interested in you than you believe, lol.

You're a weird, exceptionally cool guy.

And hey, who doesn't like Scotch, right?

Thanks for your help!

PS does the words "the wand" mean anything close to significant to you?

It's in regards to "page 11" on the manuscript that we recieved from the ONLY person who has posted on your forums.

Maybe I'll post just to make you feel better. hehehe

Adam C.

And his response...

Quote:
Not off the top of my head. In all honesty, I'm not sure what "page 11"
refers to. I may have missed a memo.

My last reply to Mr.Editor aka Jeff Somers...

Quote:
Yeah, I am very unsure if it's anything of relevence period. But there has been someone with the username tykieth posting on various book websites that some books have been released into the wild, and if "you find one", people are looking for the password on page 11.

Such a cruel game you play, sir. Cruel, indeed.

Whose idea was this anyway???

Bravo.

Adam C.

IN GAME from Ty

My message..

I have decoded the "binary" you left us, but I simply can't figure out the password that goes along with the username tkieth.

Ty's response...

Quote:
Are you sure you decoded it, then?

Well, I've already tried to decode it backword and it's just a bunch of nonsensical numbers and letters. Perhaps I'll try again?

EDIT: NOPE

I tried binarizing the word Chapters and still nothing.

Just a thought - should I upload the "The Church is a lie"-video for archival purposes, or is that not necessary?

Something interesting. I looked at the squalor page (attached).
Someone wrote that it was just madness over and over.
Actually, its madness1310 repeated 8 times. As far as I can find, 13 and 10 in binary don't have ascii equivalents.
Then the ninth line is either two extended ascii characters that I don't know how to type followed by 29 in binary, or 1498045 in binary.

The madness1310 is repeated twice, followed by madness, then madness1310, then madnes3 (the last s is truncated.

I've tried several different comibnations (madness, madness1310, madnes3, 149805, madness149805) and no luck.

Of course, this wouldn't be decrypted.

Until someone can get ahold of that book, or come up with some very enlightened idea, I believe we're officially stuck folks! Crying or Very sad

yeah. we've established that we have been stuck for a while. You know its almost impossible just to guess the password because we dont know if its supposed to be in binary or not. So we may have already found the password and tried it, but it was in the wrong form. Hopefully it recognises the binary and nonbinary password. If not, how frustrating. Well, someone post when you figure out the password, because I'm tired of looking. But I'll begin again when you guys find it.

Got something potentially good here. I e-mailed Ty asking him where exactly we should be looking for the password and here was his response:

Quote:
Google is an excellent resource. As for what to search on, blogs abound.

Edit: Apparently my brain easily confuses the words password and website, sorry Embarassed

Here's my contribution
from Ty

me
How did you release it? Are you Jeff Sommers? If so, I love your
> work. If not, then how did you get a copy to release? And ya gotta
> give me a hand here. How in the hell would it cross my path?

Ty
I'll admit it won't be easy. Don't you ever cross paths with a book?

me
Quite frequently. At bookstores and libraries, but I have looked
> there and not found it.

Ty
Naturally, 'cause it hasn't been released yet. And if the Church lawyers have anything to say about it, it never will.

But there are other ways to release a book...

So I think JS and Ty are 1 and the same...but anywho Bookcrossing shows Ty has released 4 copies "into the wild" in AC at "Dont know yet" Get on it, New Yorkers and New Jersesers...

I was just wondering on the site 'bookcrossing' has anyone actually managed to catch one of the books set out in the wild?

Jeff Somers is not Ty, no. In fact, he has little to do with this ARG. He just knows that it's a thing from his publishers. He made a cryptic post about knowing all the answers, but later admitted he knows little of them.

Hmm more emails?

Quote:
It came to my attention that I'm unsure if anyone has actually asked you for the password or for a copy of "the book".

Can you give me the password that goes along with the username tkieth to get into the /eternalsalvation2 page?

If not, can you send me a copy of the book? Maybe as a secure, encrypted .pdf so the Monk's can't find out about it?

Adam C.

Ty's again cryptic response?

Quote:
As they used to say, that would be telling.

You don't need the book for the password, though it makes it easier.

And if you don't think the Monks are already on to you, you're a fool.
I'd seek cover, I were you.

T

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, but this makes me believe the solution is on the cover?
