Could someone please decode the rest of this? F, I really didn't quite understand how you got 9 from that, but obviously it looked as if you were onto something.

I think my assumption that 00000 is a space makes sense, considering Ty's warning not to forget them. Prologue and Chapter 38 are in quotations because we're assuming there is something before Chapter 1, as the numbers Ty gave me don't correspond. And he said there were 38 chapter codes, but that the first code was 01001, so I don't know if he was including that or not, which would make there 37 chapters (or at least chapters with codes).

In order to get more chapter numbers, so far, the only effective method has been to use the "surprise me" function at Amazon.com. I don't have an account, nor have I purchased a book from there, so it won't let me. Of course, I may as well and go ahead and pre-order TEC at this point. But if you have an amazon account and have purchased something from there, please, feel free to use that method and try and get MORE codes!

 		I think combined they would make a code in binary.

Edit: I think the password begins with KD that's what I was able to get out of the first 5 known binary digits.

 		I don't think it's binary simply because 01001, which Ty said was "the first code" doesn't = I, as it's only 5 digits. It doesn't = ANYTHING in binary.

However, I figured out the coding.

It's base 2, similar to base 10


Therefore,

01001 would represent 2^4 x 0 | 2^3 x 1 | 2^2 x 0 | 2^1 X 0 | 2^0 X 1, where the x^0 X y = y, so essentially it is saying 2^3 X 1 + y, in which y = 1, or 8 +1, which is 9. So, 01001 = 9


And thusly,

The 9th letter of the alphabet is I

 		I'm not sure where the prologue comes from for sure.
we just have an email from Ty saying that 01001 was the one we know. So he's mistaken about something.

Now if only we could get more chapter numbers.
Can more people go to amazon's "surprise me!" feature for the Electric Church and get more numbers?

 		f, I went back to amazon but it is only giving me the same pages over and over again. It is like 10 or so pages that keep repeating.

I joined bookcrossing and sent a PM to Harriet with the chapters we don't have to see if she'll give them to me. She has one copy of this book in her permanent collection so I know she has one she isn't sending out.

Obviously, this doesn't make sense, but we're also assuming everyone copied down their codes properly. Until we get an actual list of codes, I don't think there's much we can do. I suggest a few of us try to figure out the "other ways" Ty mentions, while the majority of us work on getting our hands on those codes from this point on. Obvoiusly, that strategy has been said before, but now we know we're "likely" looking for something different.

EDIT: I realize speculation doesn't have to be "spoiler'd", but in the event that I'm actually right, I don't want to give too much away. Also, professor salsbury did all of the grunt work here. He pointed me in the right direction and was the first to suggest it might be base 2 when I asked him how 01001 could possibly = I.

 		This may definitely be a case of trying to "make" something work that isn't supposed to, but it seems to me that the "nnd" might mean 2nd, as in, literally, 2 n's.

So right now I think it says "In the second...".

 		perhaps that s?l word could be salvation or some form of that word. it is used a lot on TEC website and in the book.

EDIT: And the p word is probably 'price', which is a word on the cover of the book....

Maybe something about the price of salvation?
