Than again, what is "known" is very very small...i am quite certain that when the movie comes out, we are going to be surprised by the plot, not relieved that we guessed the correct outcome of it.

Not only is what is known small, it hasn't increased.

I also didn't like that he said that JJ/paramount/bad robot were surprised at the cult phenomenon that arose out of it. I mean, look at lost and TLE...it gained cult status VERY quickly. What would make them think that jj doing a very mysterious movie would be any different

Well, based on my totally non-scientific analysis of the advertising and media view of the internet, this doesn't surprise me at all. A great many of these people don't yet get it. They probably ascribed the success of TLE to the crossover from Lost fans, I don't think they understood at all the role of the internet user/player part of that experience. In fact, TLE was designed primarily to benefit the advertisers - in a sense, just like a TV show is set up with commerical breaks to suit the advertisers - they treated the players very poorly (possibly because the players were viewed as passive TV viewers instead of people engaged in a conversation with the TLE creators), were frustratingly disorganized, and not supportive of the players at all. ( I recall that the glyph in Times Square required people to stand out there for hours and hours, they had no sense of letting the players know when to be there. The Apollo Candy bar distribution was terrible - they weren't at locations where they said they would be, they didn't give out bars to people who walked through the pouring rain to get there because it was too early...lots of poor planning that clearly catered to the advertisers and disrespected the players.)

Hopefully, we can help these advertisers and marketers understand how to use the internet in a way that benefits everyone.
