challenge winners

they could not possibly base challenge winners on whom enters the correct answer first. here is my logic: they post the challenge at midnight eastern time-- many of us living in eastern time cannot necessarily stay up until midnight waiting for the challenge and spending hours through the night to work on it (for example poor, single teachers who have to get up at the crack of dawn-- just a for instance of course)-- not to mention that the west coasters are getting it at 9pm and are far more lucid to work on it. so, it just wouldn't be fair to base it on order of correct answer, then again the drawings aren't fair either, so who knows.

just throwing thoughts out there

dont get me wrong people, Im happy for the winners but what about the people who deserve a chance to win and cant now because someone else got it again. And Im not referring to myself to be honest believe it or not, I know many people here but a couple in particular who are sincerely happy for others to win and say congrats and watch as yet again someone else wins and then they smile and say oh well and then help others solve the challenges, all the while selfless. award them too please. Thanks, anyone feel free to chime in at anytime by the way Smile so I dont look like a sore thumb here Very Happy

I couldn't agree more!

I do have a question. Does anyone know how they are notifying the winners? It says that I won for week two but am scared that I might have accidentaly deleted any email that went to my junk email!

Thank you for anyone that can help!

This was my complaint in the early weeks of the game. It just is not fair. However, they are not going to change the rules and I have sucked it up. Often times I go to bed and wake up specifically to get the clue---what can I say? I am addicted!

Yeah, I have to agree also. Especially if those in the drawing all get the same thing. What does one do with 2 or 3 gift bags? Seems more fair to withdraw the names of those who win the random drawings. If it gets to a point where everyone has won once then everyone can go back into the pot again.

As far as the challenge winners, well, I don't know the best way to address that. If there were enough to go around, maybe the first person in each time zone but even that could be argued against.

Still, it is a lot of fun to play. I've loved SJP since Square Pegs. Although my all time favorite character of hers was Sarah Sanderson in "Hocus Pocus."

amok! amok! amok!

I know..
tl:dr

I logged on to the website and saw they posted the challenge 3 winners, and it was like "where's challenge two?" At the same time I was checking this board (and another one, unrelated, I'm going to Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend, the White Stripes cancelled. Me=bummed about that, but still excited to be going), and saw a couple of people congratulating me...and I was like "For winning a gift bag" (I won a drawing, Dunno )?

Then I perused the blog further and discovered the hoopla and like, whoa! I won!!

I've never won anything before, not even the 8th grade spelling bee (and I studied for that for *weeks*, only to be felled by the word "luxury", See, Mr. Banister, I *CAN* spell it!)! So I'm excited about that, to be sure.

So then I realized, what the heck am I going to do with two gift bags?!? And what about the other people that haven't won?! And then I read the board further, and realized that there were some pretty bummed people, that do work on solving these things, and give their .02, and you know? They deserve something too!

Idea ..if, by the end of this thing, you haven't won a gift bag (assuming they're the same gift bag twice), PM me here (with your alias), I'll draw your name from a hat and ship the thing to you, new, still in box. I'll pay the postage and handling.

Let's wait it out, in the meantime, k?

And, I think Barnesworth's blog hasn't come into play yet. They wouldn't have it just sitting there. It's kind of like "Power Scents". Everything is there for a reason...they haven't used Ersebet and Katalin yet. Katalin has been for some amount of background, but I have a feeling those two will come into play over time.

Keep in mind, we just go the 5th of 10 clues. We're halfway there!!

Prizes

Yeah I won a prize!! Surprised Very Happy Maybe my family will be a little more accepting of all my talk about the game now that I've actually won something. I've been a little obsessed over this thing these past few weeks! I'm sure everyone can relate. Wink

I admit it is kinda disheartening to see the same names so many times, but what i'm wondering is.. how many people are doing this each week?

I mean if there's a thousand people answering within 7 days, it would be highly unlikely (not improbably, but unlikely) that so many names keep popping up.

But if there's only 50 people doing it within 7 days i can see why the duplicate winners....and if so, I'm sure they've got to be asking themselves...is this worth the money we've put into it?... remember Applebees split $25,000 between approx 6000 people who entered the final answer correctly.. i received a check for $4.17 cent to prove it hahah-- and THAT one was as easy as falling out of bed, so with this one that is WAY more challenging (and more fun!), how much would that reduce the numbers of people participating?....

eta:. also, for the final prize award.. the drawing is to be from all those who've completed the 10 challenges (or i guess at least 8 weeks and the two video challenges to make a total of 1000 points) I'm wondering if people think if they miss a week, they wont be eligible... therefore each week the numbers of people completing the challenge get smaller and smaller.

I do not have video editing software, or else I'd surely have been in on the video challenge, but I've seen very few entries on youtube, hopefully that isnt an indication of lower numbers completing the weekly challenges.

thanks for everyone's two cents. I wonder if the secret covet people are just biting their lip wanting to throw in their two cents but they cant cause they're sworn to secrecy Laughing I wonder if they'll be posting a new blog with explanaitions as soon as they can figure one out. I think you're right though, ncfriend, about havin a low # of players but you would still think to be completely fair you'd take out the winners from previous drawings until at least everyone's gotten a win. As far as the prize for the first solve each week I think thats only totally fair since they are not as easy as pulling a name outa a hat. And aprilpapril, that was such a sweet gesture. Im truly touched. You have a beautiful heart my friend!

*pats ncfriend on the back* I don't have video editing software either. I am sure there are a ton of free programs out there but I just don't have the time to learn one in the remaining span of the game.

ME too

I guess no one's on right now, but I saw I have won 2 bags as well. I want to donate my spare to the cause so we all can have at least 1. I do still want to be in the running for the weekly IPod and the final prizes. I don't want my name taken out because I won the random prize twice.

I also "won" the $4.16 from Applebee's but prior had never won so much as a postage stamp; which has alway been fine b/c I figured my luck was waiting for the big lottery!! Now my dream is gone!! HA!

I hope folks won't be upset, b/c I will donate any extra random drawing prizes in an effort to insure as many as possible will have a gift bag. Maybe this will help some folks. Plus there are still 7 weeks, so it's possible everyone will win b/c that's 35 each week. Good luck.

Thank you

I would rather everyone continue enjoying the game and not get sidetracked. I know it's human nature, but still. We were all enjoying the blog as much as the game itself. Honestly, I didn't expect to win at all. That's just my life. I'm kind of like Linus in the Peanuts strip, walking around w/a cloud. I must have entered hundreds of contests in my life but never won anything, so I am thrilled to be able to share the feeling!!

Anyway, back to the game!

But I do want to say that I really dont feel anyone whose won should have to give up anything though the gesture is very thoughtful and greatly appreciated. My gripe was with the covet organizers not any of you. You guys are a great bunch and I am truly enjoying my time with you all. And the covet people are great too for putting together such an amazing game and putting us together as a team. I guess I mean to say is that my words may seem angrier than they are due to being online. It was a mere suggestion to the Covet organizers and there is no negativity--and I know I speak for everyone here--towards the winners ever nor the Covet organizers. Just maybe change the drawing procedures so that everyone feels that they have a chance. Thanks so much to everyone here and sorry if I rocked the boat. Im good at that ask my husband Laughing good night all! And continued great luck!
