I've learned lots of the above. But most of all, I've learned that there are good people to be found online, and that it's ok cool to be a geek!

what i've learned...

From playing The Beast, I learned that the audience can be equally brilliant creators. I learned that people want to be a part of something bigger. I learned that people can tell the difference between games and reality, but that they can also make sophisticated connections between games and reality.

From playing Art of the Heist, I learned what a VIN is. Smile I learned what Coachella Festival is (and I went!) It made me a more well-rounded person! I should know more about cars and music than I do.

From playing SF0, I learned my way around the Dogpatch - an out of the way San Francisco neighborhood - and now I can go there, spend time there, and feel at home. It made my now-hometown city more familiar, engaging, personal.

For me, the most important learning has been the logic to discern in-game from out of game, because that same logic in reverse allows me to uncover hoaxes and scams.

Recently I've been looking for a live in nanny through an on-line community, and after advanced talks with a potential au pair I uncovered that in fact it was a pretty elaborate scam originating in Cameroon. Whois, IP address geolocation, writing style analysis, grammar/spelling error analysis and basic IG/OOG logic allowed me to escape in time, and it is also allowing me to be comfortable about my decisions.

Seeing how far TINAG can go makes it easy to also see it's limitations, making one very "street smart" online.

Thank you Unfiction!

I have to echo what all the other more "experienced" ARGers have been saying. Even though I have only been through a few ARGs, I feel an actual confidence, a sort of swagger that says, "yeah, with enough time, I'm up to it." From an experience I had today in which I found out that communication is very important and lack of it sucks, I also realized that almost all of these ARGs would be impossible without you guys. The cohesion here is amazing, people are generous and kind and anyone can suggest something without getting his head bitten off, because people here simply like to have fun!

A year or two ago, I had heard about ILoveBees from a different forum somewhere, and decided to check it out. Bear in mind I had no knowledge of this place. I opened the front page and was instantly bombarded from flying text, I was so suprised and overwhelmed I closed the window and only looked back maybe once again. I had thought that ARGs were impossible because people were too egotistic, grouchy, and inconsiderate to work together for a long period of time, but with a common ends in mind, I don't think there's anything an intelligent, cohesive group of internet strangers can't do Smile.

I have learned that anything, anything, might be a clue.
I've also learned some people don't like it when you inspect their shirts with magnifying glasses.
