[SPEC]Paramount website promoting movie title "1-18-08" Went to the Paramount website http://www.paramount.com/paramount.php and they have the title simply as 1-18-08.
So maybe that is the real title.
It would be bad marketing to change the name off of that anyway. The site is called that. The trailer is called that. The trailer showed that to millions of viewers.
Good title, it is mysterious.

Yeah, I noticed that when I went to research the upcoming movies the other day.
It didn't even register with me that this may be important. I don't think it is.

I don't think they are "promoting" 1-18-08, but what else are the going to call it, until JJ gives them a title? JJ said he is going to give us a title, which implies the Cloverfield or 1-18-08 is not it.

Apple also has it listed as 1-18-08 on their trailer site.
I think it's just listed as such so people find it, I think that's why the website is named 1-18-08 as well.

It's also a lot shorter than "J.J. Abrams' Untitled Cloverfield Project" or whatever.

best so far To be honest, its the best title I've heard from them or anyone yet. I can't think of any other movies titled after a date. Its kinda smart considering the movie is gonna try and set it in real time (hint by myspaces) so why not let the title run the show?

That would only really work for America since it's being released on different days. Australia actually gets it on the 17 I think. I do still have high hopes that there'll be some kind of special "happening in real time" showings, to hammer down the experience.

That would only really work for (North?) America...
Will it be released in Canada the same day? I haven't paid attention to when movies open in Canada.

I'm up for a midnight showing. They do that a lot where I live.

On IMDB, it lists:
Australia 17 January 2008
USA 18 January 2008
Germany 31 January 2008
Spain 1 February 2008
UK 1 February 2008
Belgium 6 February 2008
France 6 February 2008
Netherlands 7 February 2008
Sweden 8 February 2008
Turkey 21 March 2008
Does Canada normally get movies on the same day as the US?

Don't the studios call it 'North American release'? If so, that would include Canada.

If the film makes reference that all these events are happening on January 18th, 2008, then it would make sense to keep "1-18-08" as the perma-title, even if it's coming out on different dates in other countries. A simple flashing of "1/18/08" after the opening credits and you have your problem solved.

Good point. I wasn't sure because I don't live in Canada, and IronJ146 just said "America"; America encompasses two continents on my globe. I was just trying to clarify.
[EDIT]to correct myself

I blame IMDB. They should be more specific.

Anyone tried checking websites for those release dates? Like 01-17-08.com? or 02-01-08?

Never said America...but anyways, I think its gonna be set on the date of destruction( 1-18-08 ) so no matter when it comes out, the date/title is relevant.
