That would only really work for America since it's being released on different days.

My B. Foily!

It does make sense to give it the name as in "On this day, this happened". However, I still think it'll be the name of the creature, for that inevitable (/crosses fingers) 1/18/08 vs 'Zilla movie or whatever. Okay, yea, that's thinking way too far ahead.

Well, I do think that it will be named after the monster. However, Paramount could also win with a "On this day, this happened" approach with keeping "1-18-08" as the perma-title.

I mean, if they're not naming the film after the monster, and if it comes down to either "Wreck" or "1-18-08", I think the choice is clear...

I think it should be the actual name of the monster, IMO. If we are going to have our "own monster" movie then it should have a name that will fit well into a sequel. How would "1-18-08 part 2" sound in theaters 4-12-09? Or what about "Overnight 2, the Sleep over?"

If the show was actually called 1-18-08, well, it'd be nice, really. It's got a good ring to it and I think it suits the show very well.

but they're going to have to make two titles for the show if they did, because there's a lot of places in the world (where I live, included) where dates go day-month-year rather than month-day-year.

I remember thinking that the official site was down once because I automatically entered www.18-01-08.com rather than the right way around...

And I remember once I got a porn site with some other combination of the numbers, in my desperate attempt to 'fix' the situation without realising that the numbers were on backwards.

Ahhh good times.

To be honest, its the best title I've heard from them or anyone yet. I can't think of any other movies titled after a date. Its kinda smart considering the movie is gonna try and set it in real time (hint by myspaces) so why not let the title run the show?

"Friday the 13th"

Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part 3 ... etc ... etc..

No sarcasm... just having fun! Razz Cool

If they're not gonna go with "Colossus" I still prefer "Cloverfield."

cloverfield?

I've heard the whole office window street reasoning behind "cloverfield", but if they are going to use it, I wouldnt understand how it would fit in with the storyline. At least the date is an important piece of the story.

I think its thinking way too far ahead to even be discussing sequels right now. Thats all dependent on 1.the movie being good/a success and 2.if JJ and the crew actully want to make a sequel.

I do agree that the title should probably be the monsters name though

Never said America...but anyways, I think its gonna be set on the date of destruction( 1-18-08 ) so no matter when it comes out, the date/title is relevant.

You are correct. I missed read things in haste. Someone else said it. It was IronJ146, but it's no matter.
