If you check the 'Array_Recorder_Data' from Server 1 (or thebruce's excellent wiki) it references the firing of the Halo's, specifically calling them 'arrays.' Also the quote '871803909 ± 384 hours since event' when worked out gives a rough time of about 99,500 years ago, and Guilty Spark said (in the year 2552, 545 years in the future) that the Halos were first fired 100,000 years ago, give or take a few.

Ok to go back to AR's post.
Quote:
This vessel I have stolen is leaking
A jar too small to hold an ocean
I cracked it open it to bear me up
Another soul snuffed to speed my passage
Another life desiccated and scattered to the Grand Cycle
I wish to say, just once and truly
This was not a whim
I shared Adjutant Reflex's pain as it passed
It knew who I was
And why I came
It knew that there was purpose to this
And that a sacrifice had been forced upon it
As it was on trillions past
Another sacrifice comes
But for whom?
The answer lies very far from here
Eleven days
One hour
Thirty eight minutes
And untold light years
Look for me in the dark
Where he cannot find us
This is how the world ends.
This intrigues me -
Quote:
Where he cannot find us
Who is he exactly? If the entity now talking in the post above (lets call him NAR) is the same as the one that killed AR, which we can assume due to what he says above, then who is he hiding from?
We know that NAR is powerful.
AR posted about him:
Quote:
An older life is here with us. He is not as helpful as I. His motives are oblique and his alliances opaque.
He plays with time even as he hides in its folds.
He outranks me and anyway, is stronger.
and
Quote:
He was always better than I.
More powerful.
More intelligent.
A better machine.
So if NAR is hiding, what is he hiding from?

Interesting, I'll hang around to see if this develops into something. I'll bet though that this is just one last push to get people interested in halo 3 as apposed to an actual storyline thing.

I haven't been following this veery closley until the artical was found saying IRIS is over, but anyway we know one thing that it probably cant bee cortana cause this is taking place in this time so we dont know anything about cortan but it can be possible cortana was made way before the hal ostory arc

Well thats what I always thought, that it couldn't be Cortana because of the time aspect.
However, seeing as Iris was a bit screwed up in the fact that several aspects of it made no sense - a company called Flood Containment Control having a Forerunner message??? It could be that it was never meant to be that deep.
Remember the Cortana letters? Although they have been declared non-canon, its just an example of how Bungie does things.
Plus there's always the time-travel idea...

THEORY A: Bungie are taking over, they want to have the ARG done right.
THEORY B: Get the "OMG HALO" talk up again pre-H3 release.
THEORY C: Iris isn't over, it never was...

Then B = true.
But what story? Iris is pure randomness, nothing will change that. Flood Containment Control? Castaway Theory?
Iris meant nothing. Just an attempt to get us all interested.
They succeeded.

the fact I didn't know it was leaked should mean it's safe to browse the 'net, just maybe make your xbox-related forum visits less frequent.

I watched it because I got bored.
It has abysmal quality sound and low quality video. And I'm still not sure quite what's happening in it. It's actually not much of a spoiler and it's not the Heroic or Legendary ending, either.
