[SPEC] voice in the 1-18-08.com roar? Ok, this is freaking me out. All I did to the roar is speed it up 300% using Audacity and a voice, or at least what sounds like one, becomes audible. It occurs during the last part of the roar that resembles a guttural/crocodile sound.
This is what I think it is saying, but listen to the file first...

whoa..... it goes with the "where is jason" thing, but it doesnt really seem like intentional speaking.

Maybe the monster is looking for a specific person and they're hinting at it? i mean, there's got to be something in the roar.. at least, i hope so.

if you play a few times over and over, it's only two syllables, it sounds like:

Big Whiny Screech; and then WHAREE!
EDIT: I messed with the graphic Equalizer thing in Windows Media Player, Play the sound at 0.5 in the Play Speed Settings.

Interesting.
I decided to load this into Audacity as well, and I did some other work on the sound. Changing the pitch is a very notable one. If this is intentional or not, it's pretty eerie. I know sound engineers that make such effects love to source from all over and this would be the kind of sneaky fun they like to have.

I cropped to the part in question and did several tweaks.

Actually the 'Where is it?' would remind me of the statement made by Duke Nukem when you keep trying to use the open door action along a wall.

And the movie will end with Rob giving the monster a hug only to be killed by the monster's happy parasites, which are of course octopuses with hammers.

Ah crap, I just listened to it and heard what the monster is really saying:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I want some Chinese food from that place down the street. Yeah, the one with the Mexican guy working there. I don't know how Mexican's make such great Chinese food either, but grab me some orange chicken and a Diet Coke when you get there.
It took a while, but I finally deciphered that whole thing.

Nice!!
I like it! Goes well with the idea that the monster is looking specifically for Rob.

...or someone in Rob's entourage.

Yea, I brought that up a while back . There's most definitely a voice in the thing, but trying to hear what it says is the hard part, or if it even means anything. I even used the part with the voice in a little beat , too. I'm glad it's being discussed again.
