Ooh. I would really love to go, but I simply don't have $100 at the moment. Curious as to what the Iris swag is. Some of the stuff from the Server 1/2 packages? The stuff from the missing Server 3/4/5 packages?
Anyway, if I happen to have $100 to spare before they sell out of tickets, I'll pop over there, take some pics and investigate any and all vaguely Iris related activities.
Thanks for posting this ZaneHarris.
Edit: Forgot you're in Seattle. You going to go?

something makes me think the iris arg swag is people who have already received theirs donating it for rewards for winning whatever games there are...
If they give server 3/4/5 swag only at the major events, I will be greatly disappointed, as will many across the country(s) who won't be attending (which I'd assume would be most, if not all, since there's only 300 people max)

The swag is actually from the marketing team at Microsoft. Directly from the people who produced Iris.
There's a possibility that we will have sections of the diorama from the the halo 3 site there as well. If so you will have a chance to win them via the raffle.
Some updates:
-64 hi def screens
-7 hi def 10ft screens
-Scion will be showing off thier new Xbox 360 cars
-Mountain Dew is now a sponsor and will be providing Game Fuel
-Circut City will be there to sell retail versions of the game at midnight (if you didn't win it in the raffle)
Setup will be...
14000 square feet of LAN party madness,
2 sets of 8 vs. 8 team play and a seperate room with 32 player FFA
more to come...
I'll be there along with Microsoft and Bungie staff and people that worked on Iris.
want to pick their brain? nows the time...

I don't think they would like the questions I would ask.
Is this a private event that you are promoting here? I see it is a charity event, how did Microsoft get involved with it?

it is now a public event because we have spots open for you guys. Microsoft and Bungie are partners in Halo. This is an official pre release party. It also doubles as a fund raiser for a great cause.
out of curiosity, what are some of the questions you would ask?

So that will be the people who don't know how to send mail outside of the U.S then
The closer Halo 3 get to release, the fact that people are already playing it, the further my hope of getting even the tiniest reward fades.
If the fate of what is left of the Iris swag is destined to help those less fortunate than myself and to help the real true life heroes with their deeds then there can't be any greater reward than that.

Well said. and thats the point about this whole event. Helping those less fortunate. The perk is, we happen to have a great motivator... Halo 3. If we can tap into just a fraction of the hype then this fund raiser will help a lot of people.

I was just wondering why Microsoft and Bungie chose this specific charity (out of all the charities there are to choose from.) Nothing more.
I'm sure it will be a great party. The game looks amazing. I hope they are pleased with the final result.

We chose this one because it is local. We wanted to keep the money in the community that it came from.
Do you live close? You should come if you do

If I lived in the area I would be at this party. I know there are people here who live in or near Seattle, I hope some of them can make it.

Narc!
Guess that answers the question about you being there. Well, I'm still broke. I was thinking about heading to the midnight launch in Bellevue for those festivities, but I don't even think I can afford to pick up a copy of Halo 3 which kind of ruins that plan. Pathetic. I'm still holding out the tiniest sliver of hope that my Server 5 reward will show up with some awesome goodies around launch.

Hey, I look at these events this way: it only happens once. You might as well go somewhere if you can to be part of the festivities. I know I felt that way about the Harry Potter book - I just wanted to see what people were doing and how they were celebrating. Those books have a lot of meaning to me because my son and I read them aloud when he was little. Funny, Halo 2 and the Master Chief also mean a lot to me, from playing the game and from ilovebees - my son got the chance to play Halo2 on the movie screen because I played that game - what can I say, that makes me happy.
So, if there is a free or limited expense event you can get to for the release of this game, go for it. You can always make a sign or T- shirt that says "I unlocked a server. Don't stay home and feel bad because you can't afford to buy the game - you will be able to get it eventually.
