I said this woman is an actual reporter for NY1. If someone planned this thing, then including an actual reporter would be... I don't know... IMPOSSIBLE.
Unless of course the reporter happened to have some friends who are Cloverfield fans.
That's a bit of a stretch. We know that the station has at least a minor role in Cloverfield, so I can't imagine why they'd want to jepordize their relationship with Bad Robot like that.
Then again, with all this speculation and searching for answers, Abrams has turned us into the cast of "Lost" so anything's possible...

I like the guy who looks like he has a bag of flour dropped on him - like from a Marx brothers movie or something.
At the very least, can someone use the Big Robot logo like that?

I guess it really is a bit of a stretch, but it makes sense if she did on her own time and hoped it wasn't big enough that the NY1 studio found out. And yeah, I really am starting to feel like a character from Lost. Maybe that's JJ's marketing strategy

For anyone interested here is a link to profiles of NY1 reporters.

EDIT: Rose beat me to it :-p
EDIT EDIT: All right that was a complete waste of time.
To the person who said that was an actual news reporter, that's complete BS. I didn't see her picture anywhere in the staff photos. I even googled the one who's picture didn't show up.
To play the devil's advocate, there goes the main piece of evidence for the trailer.
Label OOG much?

I'm 99% sure it's Jill Scott.

There are similarities, but I can't seem to tell if it's definitely the right person.
And to be honest, if this was official, it wouldn't be as crappy as it is, quality-wise.

All I'm saying is that you shouldn't discount something based on your own speculation. Deeming speculation as "fact" actually does more to draw us away from whatever clues JJ has left laying around. I could be wrong. But honestly, I live in the area and I've seen tons of Jill Scott news stories. She even covered 9/11 almost exclusively. Could be why JJ would pick her for the trailer.
There have been late night reports like that where she hasn't worn make-up, or much of it, and I'm almost confident that it's her in the trailer.
And like the other person said, if you've watched the station, you'd know that their style of reporting looks exactly like it does in this trailer. So if we're judging by quality alone, that might not be the best route to go down.
Until someone can find something substantial to discount this trailer by, lets keep looking for clues to point us in either direction, something that will stick, ya know?

It's painfully obvious this is a fake, however, I do see some potential good coming from this. If I were JJ, and I saw people actually believing this thing to be real, I would make sure to throw us a bone. Perhaps in the form of a real trailer or more viral loving.
If it IS real, it's a steaming pile of crap that I will definitely not pay to see.

Google "Jill Scott NY1". It's "painfully obvious" that she's the one from this trailer.

If only. We can but dream.

I kinda rushed to post it before vetting it. Now that I've watched it a dozen or so times, I'm going to side with those who think it's the real deal.

I'm wondering about the potential violations of using the logos, JJ Abrams name, etc. I don't think this would qualify as a parody.
But I just disproved the validity of my own test that it is real if it is taken down.
Oh well.
