Edit: Just checked it i'm positive that's a hoax.. the lack of grammar skills, didn't specify where the anouncement was made, and I'm not sure but I'm thinking that anyone cann add those. Oh and that's on a FAQ section and that clearly is a statement. xD FAKE. :3
Edit 2: Woah you guys are quick responding. xD
Edit 3!!: Removed it.

i don't see this happening, only because there not going to push something this hard for 4 months and then after having certain release date let it go...
1-18-08 can't change!

So, what's the source for that? I mean, the thing on imdb - I read it, but where did it come from?
I don't buy it - with all the buzz this movie's been getting, they'd pull the plug? I doubt it. It was featured on CNBC, for crying out loud: 'the hottest movie of the summer, and no one knows what it's called!' I can't imagine why they'd kill such a (potential) cash cow.
Edit: vlaka beat me to it.

Anyone can add to that page
"We've created the ability for contributors to directly add/update/edit/delete a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) entry for titles."
Obviously not true...

Yeah thats why its driving me nuts. I saw it by luck and it was put on there today so no other place at the moment has said anything on it so I'm hoping its fake.
As far as themonsterousmovie.com we'll have to wait and see.

Considering the movie still appears on the Paramount home page, yes, I'd say definitely fake.
IMDB accepts content pretty much from anyone; it's almost as editable as Wikipedia in that regard. Notice the big "Edit" button anyone can click on?
Also, if money was an issue, Abrams could probably bankroll this himself.

Yay! I hope so, it had me worried. All this stress for it to be canceled? no ways! I fiddled with the edit button a bit and it said i had to be an admin or some crazy thing. Pretty much meaning someone took the time out of their day to get it to work to do it and stress out a poor 1-18-08 fangirl.

If this is Paramounts way of officially announcing that there canceling a movie, then they need to fix that. It would have to be done in a press release or some official way. They would just look bad if they didn't.
and by the way, who ever did this better be happy you went and up-set the poor girl

Doesn't anyone think maybe the reason this movie has a relatively small budget (in terms of movies, the rest of the world thinks $35 million is MASSIVE FAT CASH) is that JJ is more trying to make a point? Doesn't he have a reputation for taking unknown actors and creating smash hits? I doubt that if the movie went over budget ANYONE would blink an eye. Just being something by JJ makes it hot property right now in Hollywood.
The edit function on IMDB looks perfectly exploitable to me, as do many of the fans of this movie.
Read my sig, think about it.

not really, JJ didn't really pick the budget...did he.....isn't the money just like how much paramount is willing to spend...
Considering the news cloverfield is getting i don't see why paramount would fund him with more any way....spend some to make some?

I don't buy that, considering that Paramount has thrown a hell of a lot more money at crappy movies.
And, for the record, I have seen IMDB be wrong on numerous occasions. In movie quotes, in trivia, etc... Hell, in the early days of the IMDB listing for this movie, it stated that Rob was wearing the Slusho shirt.

Right on the page it says:
"The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff."
Also, it appears to have been removed within the past hour, since I read it about an hour ago and now I can't find it.
EDIT: Actually, more like half an hour ago.
