Not so much creepy as... ominous.
Has anyone e-mailed him yet? Anyone think I should?

I got impatient and e-mailed the guy (girl? The person digging the hole was a guy, but I guess it could be the cameraperson's website). I re-used a pseudonym e-mail I had lying around, which is why I call myself Sophie G.
Quote:
Hello,
I hate to be so informal but your website didn't list a name I could call you. I of course understand the necessity to remain anonymous for what you're doing, and it's perfectly fair.
My name is Sophie, and I recently discovered your website, theburiedfilm.com, and I think it's extraordinary. For someone in today's corrupt and frankly miserable film industry to take a stand and say "I'm not going to take it anymore" is something to be applauded. I think you're extremely brave for having made such a strong choice.
If I may ask, what are the circumstances of your protest? How did you come to have to bury your film? I'm a great appreciator of film and a staunch opposer of censorship in all its various forms, so I find this situation to be extremely interesting, and maybe we could figure out some way to bring some attention to your protest. Of course, if you choose to remain anonymous, I completely understand. I'm just really curious as to how it came to this.
Yours sincerely,
Sophie G.
Thought I'd try to come across as being on his side, rather than just some mook wandering in going "Dude, wtf?" Which I of course am.

Here's the whois

A Stephen Pick was in a film, which is what this site seems to be about (a disgruntled actor)
http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0422272/fullcredits#cast
He was also a writer and director
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1756162/
There's also a Power Point presentation about prostitution by a Stephen Pick

Doesn't look like there's anything in the whois or the source. I guess I just wait until this guy e-mails me back!

I'm gonna go with the director option (also, eew, a Calista Flockhart movie.) Also the guy on the website just SOUNDS like a director, all "MY WORD IS LAW" and everything (which if you know any directors... yeah. )
Good call there! Think this is promo for a movie or just a straight-up game?
edited for clarity. derp.

What I want to think is that he actually is disgruntled and is hiding something, but is turning it into a game.
However, even if it's not meant to be, the film he's hiding sounds like a high-budget movie, so this will turn into an ad anyway.

Ten bucks says somebody gets to go find the box he buried!
It wouldn't get to be me either way, I'm nowhere near the UK I want to know what's on the piece of paper that was in the box, though.

This is a protest against censorship.
This is to the whining, pretentious, wannabe 'actor' who couldn't take any constructive criticism from the public. This is a reminder to the 'producer' of what happens when you're a lazy individual. This is to show you what someone who really believes is willing to sacrifice. You want me to hide it from the world? I'll do better than that. I'll bury it in the ground so no one will ever see it again.
All the work, all the effort, all the time and all the money. Buried.

Seems pretty ARG-ish to me. Or maybe it's just a disgruntled student doing an art piece. But looks like a thing to keep an eye on.

That's not an embedded youtube link. This guy is trying to host the file himself. I'm attempting to download it now before all his bandwidth is gone, but if someone can save it out of their cache, that would be excellent.

There are a few possible locations where the box is buried--
Hainault forest
becontree heath
Foxburrow wood
Havering Park
Though I'm just under 100 miles away from the location I slightly know the area as I used to have a friend that lived around this area.
If anyone is closer than me, maybe they could try these locations as a starter point to find the box

The box could be anywhere, really. Looks like plenty of places in the UK I know, to me.
I wanted to point out that, I can't be sure, but if I had to make a guess I would say that was a BBC logo on the video cassette.
Anything in the audio? The audio is REALLY quiet - i couldn't make anything out from just listening. Anyone wanna tweak?

There's definitely one thing said at the end, right before it goes silent and black.
