Well I geuss the good thing is thats its not a real person. And if you make a minor mistake I dont think the guys behind this would really mind that much, probably ignore it or just play along. Its a game, and the masters want us to play along, so we should try our best to make it good, but I highly doubt if anything bad will happen if there are a few holes.

Uh, wow. Colby, you're getting into this aren't you?

Maybe you should say you met Hawk, Rob's brother, at the party. Or something of that nature. I wonder if the fictional characters would actually call you on a lie. That would suck. But hey, it looks like you've got a good start there.

Also, as the 'they're looking at this forum' theory. I agree... I'll take it one step further. I think they are members... fellow posters. That way, they can contribute to the conversation, while not looking suspicious. I have an idea of who the member(s) may be, but I'll wait for a while before publicizing.

Yeah, send him that new message tonight. Definitely.

Looks good colbyrook.

Question though : Has anyone involved with the Lost ARG know how the communication IG usually work? For instance... where do you draw the line on making things up (such as Colby saying he's actually met Rob in person).

Very curious to the "rules" that usually go along with this sort of thing.

This new gaming blows my mind. Razz

I was involved with The Lost Experience ARG last year.... but not to this extent. The game never involved Myspace or personal contact with the characters... HOWEVER, in previous posts I have referred to people from TLE actually getting involved and finding information... I was referring to one specific incident half-way through, which one of my friends was involved in, being australian;

Participants were given clues that lead to several official IG hieroglyphs and hanso foundation posters being found on the streets of Sydney... on lampposts and such. This really created a 'realistic' element to the game, and truly immersed the players in the game's world.

Where is the line drawn? Certainly not with personal interaction.... take www.billion2one.org for example

Also, ask him if he knows Hiro Takahashi or Satoshi and Daiske Kagashima. That could help us too. They are either employees of YMR or the men who registered the sites.

P.S. Tonight is as soon as possible.

No, that would be a violation of the ToS for this site. They can follow along but they can't post here.

Edit:
Almost forgot - excellent work Colby. It's especially cool to see a relatively new forum member pull off a trick like this.

McPhearson, great point. The whole thing and these characters are just that, fictional characters. So you can't lie about something that never happened. I didn't follow the Lost ARG, but this is pretty cool.

Shocked Its you!! Dun dun dun.

Seriously though, this could lead to something far bigger, this is probaly what the myspace pages were for, for us to get in contact with them. Perhaps they've been waiting all this time for someone.

But it's most assuredly not Abrams. This stuff gets farmed out to marketing groups and houses that specialize in ARGs/Chaotic Fiction. One of my pet peeves with this forum is that most people toss around JJ when the should be referring to the PMs (Puppet Masters). Don't get me wrong, Abrams was in on this at some level but he's too busy with his daily life to get involved in this.

Well when people say JJ I think they mainly refer to the whole 01-18-08 group as a whole (I know I do, probably shouldn't)

MrToasty, is there any way to actually CATCH them? If they use a fake name, email address... whatever rules it violates, could we actually catch them?

Also, Colby, I think, since you seem to be our link to Rob now, that you work as efficiently as possible. I don't mean to boss you around or pressure you, but you are the middle man now. You've already uncovered that Rob works for Tagruato; you could end up getting us the clues we need. After all, who knows the answers better than the characters involved? Wink (Beside Abrams himself)

As for the NY thing, shoot. Say you attended the Second City Adult Intensive Training. (Second City is a comedy/improvisational troupe in NY, to name one location)

As for how to play your response to him, I'd almost go the other way and not pretend to have met him, but maybe do a six degrees of separation kinda thing, like friend of mine knows a friend of yours, or you were simply looking for people with similar interest on Myspace when you found him. His profile does say he's there for social networking.
