[INFO] Colbyrook- I am not a game Jacker

Ok..... so I log onto my account this morning to find a private message. Mr Toasty tells me that he has good reason to believe that my myspace message from rob is a "fabrication" and I should apologize to the other forum users and tell them it was a "joke". I do some looking on the threads and it seems everyone is convinced I am a "Game Jacker" and a "Hoaxer". Well ok. You want the truth? Fine....

I did not fabricate anything. The messages I sent and received were truly from Rob, and from no one else. It seems somehow that my friend Martin has been dragged into this.... I doubt he even knows what 1-18-08 is, so don't direct any hate at him. I don't know why the html file is what it is.... the only explanation I can offer is that I copied parts from two messages..... martin also sent me a message earlier that day, gloating to me about his blog. Geez I'm glad that thats been broadcast to everyone. Anyway, I had lots of firefox source code boxes open yesterday, copying stuff, and did copy the div message tag separately, I think. Maybe I opened the source code for his message, and copied parts of that instead… I don't know. Either way I DID receive that message, and it is still currently in my inbox- I checked last night.

I haven't signed into Myspace yet today, but I think I'm gonna find ALOT of hate messages. Please don't do that.... unless you know for sure that I'm hoaxing, which I swear I'm not.

Anyway..... I'm not gonna try and convince you... I'd imagine most of you already have your mind set against me. What I am telling you is I RECEIVED THAT MESSAGE... Make your own minds up.

No I didn't photoshop anything, or edit the HTML file.... I dont know how to... I dont even do IS at school.... and as for photoshopping... I'm flattered that you think I could even try to do that. I've done everything I can (given you screenshots, html files, etc.) to convince you, short of giving you my myspace login details to check it yourself.... which I'm not going to do for obvious reasons.

But now your scepticism has pretty much ruined anything that I was going to put on this forum, including the e-mail I received back from tagruato corp, which I was going to post this morning (I can hear the "oh he's just bullshitting "). So I am deleting my account, and leaving you; you want me gone; I'm gone.

So, um, in conclusion, believe what you want... I put out there what was truly happening to me. Anything I'm doing or that I learn in reference to 1-18-08 I'm now gonna keep to myself- I've now learnt from that mistake.

I'll ask you before I go, though, if that screenshot was taken of the edited html file, the address bar in the browser would say %/DocumentsandSettings/Desktop/asd.html... yes? Look at the address bar... that is a live myspace page- I cant hack myspace, you know.

Anyway vent your rage here... and THANKS HEAPS Mr. Toasty! You were so generous for letting me message you back with an explanation before you broadcast your thoughts over all the threads!

Cheers,

Colby

P.S. I am doing the following because I think you should know, but broadcasting it myself will be stupid, and no one will believe me. If your interested, copy the e-mail I sent to Tagruato from the thread I supposedly "highjacked" and send it to them yourselves... hopefully, you'll get the same mysterious response I did.

edit to add tag ~rose

If you are telling the truth then there is actually a very easy way to prove it, albeit you'll have to find someome here you trust. If its still in your mailbox, give someone your sign in name and password. Find someone who think won't be a vandal, then change the password once that person verifies. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Oh yeah, there's a lot of trustworthy people on the Internet. The façades of hackers and vandals are simply transparent when brought up against the crystal-clear morality and trustworthiness of the infallible World Wide Web... Rolling Eyes

Didn't suggest it wouldn't be without its perils, only that it would be a simple procedure.

Besides, There has got to be someone on this board would wouldn't tear through his MySpace once on. It doesn't have to be just anyone, and it doesn't have to be conducted publicly either. Colby gives his info to one person via PM, and "Trustworthy Citizen" (or TC) uses it. TC should be someone we all know won't lie for Colby. Then TC publicly verifies the truth, and Colby changes his password. All this assuming he's telling the truth.

Should he prove to a liar, well, I don't think anyone can be held liable for the trouble the cuase. Although that would be an idle threat to an honest man.

Who cares who believes you or not? If you did it, then more power to you. You obviously did something that none of the other ARGnerds could do. That alone should get you a ton of props. If you feel the need to prove what you did just to make yourself feel better, then by all means give up your password and open yourself up to some jealous nerd who hates the fact that you did what he/she couldn't.

I would just take what I've got, build on it, moving along while laughing at the people who hate me for doing what they couldn't. I give you a major thumbs up, and encourage you to do what you're doing without falling victim to any of the haters.

What about this

colbyrook: If you were for real, all you had to do was FORWARD the messages to MrToasty, who I'd wager anyone here would trust to verify it's authenticity. HTML can be faked easily (it's just text), and as for the URL address, all you'd have to do is type the first parts of the URL in the address bar without pressing Enter, take your snapshot, then post the picture with a "real" address shown as the URL. See the previous example that went up as I was typing this. Thanks, CC.

The funny thing is that you can do Macromedia FreeHand, but not Photoshop or at least minor HTML work (because editing text is hard)? It didn't take much after looking at the raw HTML that YOU posted to determine that it was edited exactly as MrToasty described. The Reply link takes you to your buddy Martin's page: CLICK HERE when logged into MySpace to test for yourself.

Again, that Reply link is taken from YOUR posted HTML's source text. Add in the poor spelling beyond Rob's norm, the fact that the well-known (here, anyway) American spelling for organise is organize, and you definitely need to answer for it. Coming out and taunting the masses further with the "and I was about to post more messages too!" crap just shows how lame you are, even if you were telling the truth. Good riddance! R.I.P.

Please Locky! this

Colby, I'm surprised you don't just forward the message to someone on these forums who has a myspace. It wouldn't be that hard. And it proves the authenticity.

Exactly, it certainly would just resolve everything.

No worries... who has a myspace? I'll do it today....

Thing is though that the 'original message' part of the forward in a myspace message is just text though isn't it? I don't want to do this if someone's just going to say, straight off, that it was just another fake attempt at me to prove it.

Colby, myspace.com/takingoveryoururl

I'm too computer retarded to do all that fancy stuff so I'll just screen shot it, photobucket it, and post it here

Hm, that is true. It would seem that in most emails it is quite easy to fake a forward, therefore leading to doubt.

The only solution I can offer is, since your email has become *supposedly if true* an important part of this ARG, it would be important to let someone else verify it by logging onto your account.

I realize it's a big risk to take, but it might be the only way to clear your name (that I can think of).

Without some kind of hardcore proof, however, you will be subject to name calling, spam, and flaming.

I went and read all of the threads, and I hate to say it, but I'm starting to side with Mr. Toasty. Read my reply here
