Yeah. The Bloop! that has for the longest time been a mystery in terms of where the sound came from. It may been an inside joke, or it may be an OOG site that is just trying to pull our legs. Either way, it's an interesting tid bit.

When you say an OOG site, do you mean www.youcantdrinkjustsix.com or the site it defers to? Because the site it defers to is defiantly OOG.

I was referring to the defferal... maybe an in-game figure organised it to give us a clue? or then again maybe the admin of http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/vents/acoustics/sounds/bloop.html is just a 1-18-08 fan and bought the domain name.

Anyway stay tuned to this thread... I just got a message back from Rob (see pages 10 & 11) on MySpace... doing the transcript and screenshots now.... VERY excited

Can we assume by the info above that these sites were registered by brothers, or father-son, either real or fictional? The last name is the same ("Kagashima") as is the postal address for the Slusho Whois and the Tagruato Contact (but the Tagruato Whois postal address is different). I'm looking it up and down, but I'm not seeing much. Any help?

P.S. - Colby, I think he was talking to me.

EDIT: I was just looking over it. I wonder if this Daiske guy is a fake. Not character-wise, but as in OOG-wise. I wonder if some fan thought, this'll be fun, and made a site registered to the same postal code as the Slusho! site. If this Tagruato site is a fake, it's a darn good one.

Has anyone tried calling the phone number on the contact info from the Tagruato WHOIS? 8105805681
Address and info are the same as on the website but the number is different. Or did anyone have any luck calling when it was found from the Slusho WHOIS, that number had a "." instead of a "0".
I've never called Japan before but as far as I know the number would be 011 81 3 8105805681, correct?

Maybe you should say you met Hawk, Rob's brother, at the party. Or something of that nature. I wonder if the fictional characters would actually call you on a lie. That would suck. But hey, it looks like you've got a good start there.

No, that would be a violation of the ToS for this site. They can follow along but they can't post here.

Edit:
Almost forgot - excellent work Colby. It's especially cool to see a relatively new forum member pull off a trick like this.

Pretty sure if it was JJ Abrams and his crew they wouldnt care much for ToS

But it's most assuredly not Abrams. This stuff gets farmed out to marketing groups and houses that specialize in ARGs/Chaotic Fiction. One of my pet peeves with this forum is that most people toss around JJ when the should be referring to the PMs (Puppet Masters). Don't get me wrong, Abrams was in on this at some level but he's too busy with his daily life to get involved in this.

Well when people say JJ I think they mainly refer to the whole 01-18-08 group as a whole (I know I do, probably shouldn't)

Thanks, guys. Let me put on my humble face for a minute and give credit where it's due again. hinoai started the translation and Lasher came in with the save on the ingredient name. Dr. Awkward followed that up with the restaurant review that gave the Tagruato name to look for. I got lucky and followed the thinking that led to Slusho in the first place and tacked a .jp onto the end.

I'm really glad we have new material to work with and that there are still some thinking people around here that really help advance the game.

I'd say we can safely add this to the OOG list. Reeks of gamejack, but this line seals it:

I can see that happening. Or at least small hints of it, slowly building over time. You know, first it mentions a few problems, then maybe mentions mechanics coming in or something. Then in the morning it says there is a massive disaster. Who knows?

on the tagrutao corp. investor news page it talks about undersea demolition, so im thinking they destroy the monsters "living space" i guess you would call it or they uncover the monster and keep it hush hush until it gets out of control... or something to that effect
and the acticle was posted last year so that means they could have used this method for the "Chuai station"...

Being a very big and wealthy company, you'd expect them to employ someone to update their site more frequently. The newest station was opened in Sept. Thats been and gone. I'd have expected them to have updated it to say something new by now, or indeed a headline detailling an opening ceremony.

I'm guessing the next update or a future update will report on mysterious finds on the newest station and their sister companies the scientific one researching into it.

I was thinking more with the lines of Rob knows something with problems at the station....here is my speculation about the beginning of the movie......maybe....

Rob gets called into emergency meeting while at work at Tagruato, says he know Ganu so might be pretty high up. There is an emergency SOS message from new station. Short but someone calling for help maybe roar is heard in background, maybe some video with something seen but can't be determined what, or someone saying it's/something's attacking, . No one knows what is going on Rob is at work late trying to figure out spin for press release next day whatever. They don't knw so claim industrial accident, but Rob has his suspicions since he saw the video transmission. Cut to Rob gettting to surprise party late, having fun blah blah blah.....all of a sudden roar that he heard over emergency SOS from station he's like crap something bad is going to happen...........

crazedstapler posted here http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21309&start=105 about watatsumi-no-kami and was pretty much ignored. The thing is, I found this page: http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/oldmanoftheseanamor.htm

It's about a Marvel comic character called the Old Man of the Sea (though in the comic he was unnamed) who is an extra-dimensional diety that lives in a cave at the bottom of the Atlantic. He has an amulet that is round and red, very akin to the Tagruato logo and he has followers, called Fish-men, who lash out against humans. The Fish-men have four-fingered hands, one opposable thumb and three clawed fingers.

There is also a Japanese diety translated to Old Man of the Tide (or Sea, read the website) who has a messenger called Wani, seen here: http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/draglrdj.htm#wani

Wani rested for 500 years and was awoken by off-shore drilling.

Ugh, it seems like I can only download the container swf. Basically there is a lot on that page I can't get at. The container is calling up swf's on their server for pretty much everything on that page and all I have access to is the only embed on there which is the container. Maybe the only good thing to come from that is if someone before me thought they were getting the whole site in the single swf and thought there was nothing to be found actually didn't inspect the entire content of that page.

A few things: I did find lines in the action spript like this
class com.robertpenner.easing.Cubic
and I did see if there is a robertpenner.com, sure enough there is. This is sooooo OOG though and so is Robert Penner. I'm not sure if these are scripts he invented and thus would have his name attached to them or if he in fact built the slusho site. Either way he does have contact info on his site. I'm pretty sure though this is breaking the fourth wall of the game if you do contact him, so I don't advise it.

Also, I have never in my limited experience with cracking into flash sites seen this level of hiding access. Maybe its common to have such a container but I have never come across one. I could only assume then that they did not want us to get into the inner workings of the flash on slusho.jp and thus would have some hints hidden possibly in the flavor game or elsewhere. I'm going to keep trying to access the other swf's on their server and take a hell of a look at tagruato.jp. (also note I have never come across this type of embed, it looks to be done through some sort of javascript, I could be wrong, but its definetly advanced)

Bummer, I was hoping to alter the slusho swf and make my own results with the flavor game, lol.

I kind of figured, even if he did build the flash on slusho.jp its really not cool of us to contact him and try and get info anyway. I just thought it was kinda neat seeing a name in actionscript that led to a dev. Never came across anything like that either, lol. God I just wish I could get my hands on the flavor game swf. Though I still think, in my own humble opinion, this thing isn't going to be solved tearing everything apart and going through it with a fine toothed comb. I'm going to head over to tagruato.jp, I still think those subsidiaries other than slusho are going to prove keys in this mystery.

Just tore apart the drilling map swf. Nothing in it to me indicates there is anything hidden on it. The odd text at the bottom when clicking on a new station is completely random. Note that this page is more of what I am used to seeing when a site has flash, unlike slusho.jp. Although they are also embedding it with javascript. This one has parameters, at least ones I can see, lol

Anyone want to check the registery of fun.jp and bold.jp? tried other derivitives for web sites to the other subsidiary's and those are the only two so far that look like any sort of a possibility. I really do believe we are eventaully going to have sites for all of these

Lol, nvm. Checked both of these on whois and neither have convincing regestry dates. You think maybe finding these sites first is the wrong approach? Maybe they'll drop more hints that will let us know when to find these sites.

has anyone tried searching for the company on google?

The address being:

18 Palace Plaza
36-40-10 Marunouchi
Marunouchi, Tokyo 118-8336
Japan

However, i note from google maps, most road names in Tokyo appear to only consist of Japanese symbols. The search therefore must contain symbols to recognise the search. being one that does not speak or write Japanese, i ask is there anyone who can translate the address or can search for the address in japanese to see what is registered at that address?

google map search

keeno_82uk wrote:
as i thought, there is no such address. The place in Tokyo is real. heres the area website. and heres the list of all of the buildings in the area.

Can't find anything conclusive from the site itself. You can translate it to english via a link at the top. OOG methinks

Thanks for recording the messages, Cloverfieldclues. It's somewhat strange that the recording says, "please leave a message and one of our associates will find you as soon as possible." What does that mean, exactly? I'm hoping that it means nothing more than "well have someone call you back as soon as possible". I know there's something lost in translation at times, but with a company this big and with interests all over the world, I'm sure they can hire someone that can translate/interpret more clearly. I speak a number of different languages, though unfortunately, my Japanese is next to nil.

There's still a lot to uncover with this site. Good work, all.

P.S. - I STILL think Orbitz soda (with its Orbz) was most foul - most foul indeed! Laughing

In the story about serving Slusho to seniors, the "Slusho! Smilers!" are mentioned. I looked around and found this:

Doesn't seem to be much, but still - it's odd. Anyone with technical know-how want to check into that?

EDIT: Also just noticed this - the minimized (Mozilla) bar for that site, at the bottom of my screen, has some weird characters in it. ???

Well, while continuing my search for the physical location (even if it's a fake), of Tagruato in Japan, I was able to zoom in on Marunouchi, but Google Maps likes to keep everything local, so it's in Japanese... with no option to translate....

On the plus-side, there's a 7-11 there... Confused

Also maybe those links on Tagruato will be working in November.

The website for the company is up now, and Satoshi tells me it will be finished by November of this year. I never thought I would be making money off of Mother's little soda venture, let alone selling T-shirts! It is a strange and wonderful new day.

I hope you're done copying and pasting :-/

Anyway, can anyone makes sense of this?

http://www.tagruato.jp/all_subsidiaries.php/images/bold_futura_logo_3.gif

There's some sort of wierd code. I remember a while ago people talking about code acting as a place holder and meaning nothing, but I thought that was about something to do with the drilling stations.

Yessir, all done copying and pasting...sigh

I'm gonna unsticky this and hopefully it'll serve as an informative reference that is free of the "colbygate" scandal.
If he proves legit (don't see how w/ Mr.Toasties evidence), that discussion can stay in its own thread.

I know the Bold Futura logo you referenced is on this page.
I can't make any sense of it other than that Confused

I don't think it has been (yet??).

I know that, the page I found was found by a copy and paste mistake when I wanted to check out some of the logos from the source code.

I was surprised when it showed up, and since it showed up, I'm wondering if it means anything.
