Yep, I got the 'false' solution too, then worked out (I think) what the connection to The Equation was, and found the real solution. I haven't solved the Equation yet, but I can tie in most of the hints about removing 1/4 of the total pieces etc. with the solution to the Legend of the King.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Basically the distances to pull out the Legend sliders match the lengths of four of the Equation pieces if you put them around the outside. Matches all the following hints:

  • From the instructions: "With fragments bestowed upon you from The Equation, join the quest to free the legendary scroll and release the guide to explore The Enigmatic Temple." I believe this just means that you should use some pieces of The Equation to open the Legend.

  • Web hint: "Fragments bestowed upon you from The Equation are necessary to free the scroll." Same as the previous hint.

  • Hint from The Equation scroll: "1/3 will be cast aside but ¼ of the whole will set the Legend free ..." There are 15 pieces, plus the base. "1/3 will be cast aside": implies that you take out five pieces from the solved Equation. "1/4 of the whole": 15 pieces plus base is 16, so ¼ is 4 pieces. I think this means that 4 of the pieces of The Equation can be used to open the Legend of the King, and specifically that the lengths of those are how far out to pull the sliding bits of the Legend. It is possible to match up four pieces with the solved Legend, I hope to identify which four once I've solved The Equation (working backwards here !)

  • Clue from finding the password for The Equation (which I didn't, another story Wink ): "4 out of 5 excluded are needed"
Again fits the previous reasoning – I read this as "you need to take away five pieces of the first part of The Equation solution, and then use four of those to solve the Legend"

  • Web hint: "What was omitted from The Equation is needed for proper position around the castle". More of the same - take the four pieces you removed from The Equation and use them to work out how far out to pull the sliders of the Legend.

Passwords

Has anyone worked out the passwords to any of the first three puzzles of the Sacred Myths and Legends series? I figured out the password to Da Vinci's Secret. I have not figured out the other two yet.

Nope, came up with loads of possibilities for DaVinci, none correct Embarassed
Working on the basis that the hints in the various languages mean the same things, I guess that the passwords are not language-specific, but that hasn't narrowed it down enough for me !

As a matter of interest, was the password you found case sensitive (did uppercase and lowercase work) ?

Here's my limited thinking on DaVinci's password:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hint 1: "Letters and numbers will make you smile when you've deciphered the password and get closer to the treasure" (from the DaVinci scroll)
Equations are made up of letters and numbers - does this just mean "You'll be happy to get on with The Equation when you've found the password"?
Hint 2: "Title is of unimportance. Decode the scroll and the password will be clear". (from the website)
Lisa (minus the "Monna"/"Mona" title); Gioconda/Joconda (minus the "La")/Leonardo (minus "daVinci")

Going down the road to nowhere fast ... with diversions down the back alleys of "Vitruvius", "sfumato", "enigmatic" (smile), "clear" (the password will be clear Smile), "Leonardo", various combinations of letters and numbers such as "M0NA", "L15A" etc. etc.

Would you offer any clues to figuring out the Davinci's Password??

Da Vinci Password

I will give you the method in which I figured out the password, but I will not give the password. Start with te clue: "Letters and numbers will make you smile when you've deciphered the password and get closer to the treasure"

Hint 1: Letters and numbers = Roman Numerals
Hint 2: will make you smile - note the highlighted words
Hint 3: Title is of unimportance = The title "Mona Lisa" is not important

Unfortunatley, I can not start "The Equation" because my puzzle was only shipped with 14 pieces. Have to wait for the ne pieces to arrive in the mail. Took me a total of 2.5 hours to solve the first puzzle completely with the password. Hope all this helps! Good luck!

i have measured all the pieces. If you can take a picture of all your pieces, I can give you the measurements of the piece you are missing and you can make it out of paper if you want to get started.

Let me know.

Thanks for the help!!

da vinci's secret

I just solved da vinci's secret, but I did it by lining it up by eye. I can't figure out, for the life of me, what the point of the clues for this puzzle were. I looked online, and I recognize the point of the circle-square engraving, but i don't see how this would give you a 'combo' to the answer. Is it supposed to be trial and error? Are you supposed to line it up by eye? What's the deal with the ancient roman architect, and the "positions among 16"?

I tried to figure out the meaning after solving the problem by eye too, some highly tenuous ideas below !
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ancient Roman architect's proportions are essential for symmetry and position among 16. (from the instructions)
Ancient Roman architect: Vitruvius, who wrote a treatise on proportions of the human body. daVinci drew up a picture to capture these human body proportions, called the Vitruvian Man. His drawing shows 16 poses when you consider all combinations of arm/leg positions.

Identify the missing figure and superimpose onto the puzzle. Follow the direction and rotate to success. (from the website)
Missing figure: Vitruvian Man
The engraving is of the frame of the Vitruvian Man: superimposing the man onto it, the diagonals of the light blocks line up with one set of arms/legs and the diagonals of the dark blocks line up on the other set.

Let Family Games steer you in the right direction: Light with light and dark with dark. (from the website)
The Family Games engraving shows the way that the parts line up, all the light coloured ones in line, all the dark ones in line, 90-degrees out of phase with the light ones.

How would these clues help solve the puzzle ? B*ggered if I know Laughing

da vinci's secret

Thanks. I was figuring that somehow the clues would identify the particular rotation that you'd need to open the puzzle, but I guess they can't, since there are no identifying marks on the blocks anyway. But that does at least clear up the meaning of the clues!

Hello everyone. Smile

Sorry that I started this thread and then ran off... busy life I lead. Laughing

Anyway. As regards the password to Da Vinci, I tried something very similar, but
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I used just numbers not Roman Numerals

Wish I'd thought of that! Well done. Very Happy

I'm still not any closer to figuring out the Equation. I have a combination of blocks that works on the board, but it doesn't seem to give me anything more useful than a pretty set of blocks on a board. Smile I have a picture of my arrangement, if anyone wants to see it. Smile

I got the middle piece from DaVinci, and that doesn't help either. I agree that the solution must have something to do with the equations on the base, but quite what... no idea. lol

If you're interested in the 4th, 5th and 6th puzzles in the series, the pictures of the puzzles are up now on the FGA site. http://www.fgagames.100megs21.com/mainsite/consumers/categoryview.php?id=113 They look quite fun! I don't think anywhere is selling them yet, though.

Legend of the King has only just become available to buy over here, so I'll be getting that this Christmas I think. It seems a shame that I can't keep up with the release in the US, but paying for shipping from an American website would probably cost me more than whatever prize there is to win at the end of this trail! Laughing

I agree with the comments about the maps on the sides of the boxes. Especially given that you'll notice in all the promotional pictures the map sides of the boxes are always turned conveniently away from the camera... Smile Incidentally, there are three large boxes and three small boxes, so that'll give you a shape with a gap in! Unless Secrets of the Pyramid comes in a long box too, then you'll get a square.

Does anyone recognise anything on the map? I've only got one and two so they don't make much of a map for me at the moment!

Sorry I rambled so much. I've been away. Very Happy

Hi Sarah, Firebox had Legend of the King in the UK since August, but I bought it from the US a few weeks before they got it in - typical !! Shipping was very reasonable though, around $10 from memory so not too bad.
