Another theory...
Is it possible that the references to whales actually has something to do with the monster? Like maybe the behavioral pattern of whales is changing due to the drilling/research being done, or maybe all (or at least a few of the more intelligent undersea creatures) know of the monsters rebirth or reanimation or freedom from unsaid years of captivity and researchers notice their change in behavior,

Just a theory to mull over in your minds, not something I firmly believe in any aspect.

 		i think they are trying to intrest us in that wierd noise hear in the ocean in the 90's is sounds like a whale but diffrent who knows Smile

 		Maybe they are just using whales as a metaphor, as in "happy as a whale". Maybe Slusho makes people really happy, therefore if you are the biggest whale you are very very happy!
