Is this even IG?
really??

I appreciate all the speculation here, goodness knows I'm very much into the whole AR-? but these images where uploaded and renamed (quite a few times) once the account had been 'hacked'.

I think we'd need a very good reason to take them as actual data.

Chances are someone/fan uploaded them and tried to bring more to the table than we've had before.

I say poo-poo the whole lot of them as OOG.

Cool Art

Greetings - long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm pretty godamm sure I've seen that image labelled "Cool Art" before. It was in a comic (possibly 'Y the Lost Man' or 'Hellblazer' - I can't put my finger on it and it's buggin' the bejeezus outta me).

Either way, I think it's definitely time to throw this red herring back into the ocean.

Welcome to unfiction Edmundo. Thanks for the update on the cool art. Perhaps you also saw that image used as an avatar by a player on this forum?

I suspect you are right about throwing it all back in the ocean.

I can't buy that these are "in game"... you're trying to analyze a site whose security was COMPROMISED. How can you accept anything at this point from there?

Whether these images were there or not cannot be proven by anyone other than the people who first entered the site, and furthermore they can't guarantee that this site wasn't hacked months ago (I still have reason to believe it was). Having one person say "yeah, these images were there before I hacked in" is no proof as to whether someone "hacked in" before them.

Unitl an "in game" personna acknowledges these images, they cannot and should not be considered. Who knows who sent them up and why?

When I was asking if the images had been up before, I meant that they had been seen in the game before...that they were known and used in the game. If they were the same, which, by the way, no they aren't the same, then perhaps that would have been the PMs getting this back together.

Looked this morning at all their myspace, They were all logged in yesterday 10/8, Rob was on this morning 10/9. No new blogs/omments/pics that I could tell, except Hud had a update in his comic story. Never seen them all in on same day.

Here's a thought: auto-response

Revisiting the Night of the Hack:

As the timeline goes, we're all assuming that an intern/programmer/whoever was online Saturday night at the same time as Doc Awk, changed the password, and was deleting and/or posting pics in real-time during the hack;

or, that Doc Awk or someone else with access to the PB was haxxing the page, changing the password, and deleting and/or posting those pics.

Here's another theory:

We know from past history that the interns take the weekend off (yay for 9-to-5ers). That's why a lot of us thought it VERY strange that someone would be online on a Saturday night at Paramount's end and *just happened* to be in Jamie's account at the same time as Doc Awk.

So. What if there *wasn't* an intern/sysop at the other end on Saturday night....but rather what Doc Awk encountered was an automated subroutine?

In other words, what if they were EXPECTING the hack eventually, and had built in that failsafe to automatically change the password and maybe upload 5 cryptic photos to keep the head-scratchin' hacker occupied?

Automated subroutine?

I had the same thought, brettoniasam, but didn't know how feasible it would be. Is that within the capabilities of Photobucket? (e.g., do users have the ability to see log-in dates and times, and would the effect of logging in periodically via a script/subroutine not overshadow that capability?)

The story of the hacked being an automated thing is a good hypothesis, but it's not within PB's realm of possibility. I have two PB accounts and I don't see an option for automated uploading. You have to remember that the picture names were also changed periodically which is evidence that someone was in the bucket and changing them manually every few minutes.

My suspicion is that it was Doc Awkward. Has been since the beginning. Interns don't work on Saturdays and certainly do not work after 5. This is as OOG as it gets.

Okay, thanks for the update, Inafield...I wasn't sure if PB was capable of that kind of automated response, either. Clears that up.

And Doc Awk seems the most likely candidate for messing with the pics...but keep in mind that the genie was already out of the bottle by that time -- i.e., everyone on UF knew by then that the password was Paramount, and *several* fingers were prodding around in there by then.

So....coulda been anybody.

I hear ya. I believe that Doc Awk had something to do with it, but I also believe that several others on here did as well. I don't think it was just one person; I believe it was several. But Doc Awk is defending the thing as IG too much for him to not have had something to do with it.

I'm starting to realize how skeptical everyone around here is...it is the nature of the beast I suppose (ARG). Rolling Eyes

I've decided not to take it personal...for now this mindset seems to serve the best interest of the game.

At least a few other internet folk from other forums were in and outta the bucket outside of uF.
You can go here and take a look for what it's worth...

I'll only say it once, although I've implied it numerous times - I didn't jack the bucket...period. Crying or Very sad

You'll all have to decide for yourselves if I'm being honest.

I know I didn't, so I suppose I'm at least one step in the right direction...albeit a small step.

Just seems if it was not recovered by a PM it would have been by now, but I suppose that mentality isn't infallible.

If it was jacked at all, will certainly prove to be interesting...
I hope some form of evidence peeks about somewhere (ie. myspace blog, PB account deleted, anything) so the game can move in a better direction than in-house paranoia...

This is worthless in terms of progression.

I don't really see a purpose in trying to figure out who did what. Doc Awkward has been forthcoming about what he did, we know he wasn't the only one and we know that at least one other forum was involved.

So, we can keep waiting patiently for an update; we should have perfected that art by now.

I don't think any of this is meant personally, Doc. It's very true that others appear to have known about the password by that time, and it's that which leads me to believe that every site that was breached is still compromised. This leaves us with very few sites, most that haven't produced a single clue yet, that we can believe are still under the control of the PMs.

If I were in any position to influence the direction of the marketing/game, I'd just abandon the MSPs and start new PB accounts. Of course, that would create problems with people not thinking they are IG because of the recent creation dates.

Six of one, a half dozen of the other. Dunno

Skepticism truely is the nature of The Beast.

The only thing dr. Awkward did wrong was post the password the Jamie's photobucket (which I and others would have probably done in all the exitement of a "hack"). I don't blame him for this.

I don't believe dr. Awkward hacked Jamie's photobucket, I was there when it was open. It's possible dr. Awkward did it, but he didn't do it immediately. I also doubt from his attitude that he is a gamejacker or a PM (as has been suggested before).

As I explained before, there is little left to discuss here until the end of the week. If no news comes up of a hack on her or other people's myspace, it means that the photobucket is ingame. If something does happen to hint it isn't though, it isn't (the PMs wouldn't lie to us about that if they know we are following it).
