[SPEC]More than one explosion?
Special effects inconsistency? Or more?

I've watched this part of the trailer about five times, where the party scurries for the rooftop door. The flaming debris which falls near them is definitely coming from the wrong direction to have the explosion we see as its source.

The cameraman turns less than 180 degrees to his right from the explosion to face the door, and the falling objects come in from in front of him (to hit the rear wall of the builing) and off to the right. This puts the second explosion behind the cameraman and to the left, his the camera is pointed at the first explosion.

If this seems a little hard to follow I'll whip something up on paint.

Gas stations aren't interconnected by undergroun pipelines, so the thought of one monster destroying a gas station, and having the explosion travelling underground to another seems unreasonable to me.

Facilities with a high explosivity which may be interconnected, such as gas plants, I doubt would be in such close proximity to such high population densities, like NYC.

Thoughts?

the debris that hits the rooftop/building could have ricochet-ed off another higher building..

After reviewing the trailer, I don't believe there's any inconsistency. As you can see when the debris is hurtling through the air there's one 'object' that looks like it's heading straight for the cameraman whilst there's one to the left that's at a slightly different angle.

I'm going with the theory that the explosion comes from an oil tanker docked in the harbor. The fireballs are flaming oil barrels raining down from the explosion.

That would also be consistent with the creature coming from the sea...i.e., it hasn't "made landfall" yet, but just blew the crap out of a ship before it came ashore.

oil tankers which are the property of Tagruato Corp...from their newly opened site which also harvests the special ingredient. Tagruato could have their own transport shipping bay where their produce is shipped from the drilling station to the shipping bay to be refined and exported. The monster could very well crush it and therefore causing the explosion.

To my own eyes the objects coming down don't look like oil barrels. They look too big and when the one impacts the building next door the debris from it fragments and spreads in a way that looks much more solid than the way I'd expect the liquid content of an oil barrel to spray and ignite.
I'd expect a fireball sort of result from the oil, turning into a shower of flaming liquid.

Doesn't the explosion happen from the middle of the city? And it doesn't look too much like a missle explosion. Did we ever think about that maybe this monster is underground and coming up and maybe hit a gas line or something?

I always thought myself that the explosion was a bunch of like
cephalapods<(not spelled right)....but anyhow..i think that the monster shoots missile like projectiles outta it's back or something.

My 2 cents.I dunno.

The "fireballs" seem to emerge from the explosion in a uniform fashion. Then, the camera oddly focuses on a few of them as they seem to explode or pop in mid-air and break into smaller segments. Notice how more seem to hit the area around the building than we see coming toward the camera.

Seems like there's more to this than a simple explosion. Well, besides the whole monster thing. Very Happy

I was actually really feelin' this...especially after reading about the Texas
incident in '47 you posted elsewhere Bret (I think it was "47).

Someone (who said dat?) mentioned the azplozion occurs within the city somewhere,
as opposed to the shoreline, though which, if true,
proposes some difficulty with that...

If that was the CGI for oil barrell azplozionz, I'd buy it...visually speaking. Cool

I've posted this before... Here is a very detailed explanation of the physics behind the explositon:

the monster has to come either from underground or its the oil tanker theory because i think evryone would notice a giant monster walking through the city and it would have been on the news about a monster

on the news they said tremors or earthquakes or whatever so im thinking the monster can from underground
maybe i just dont know what im talking about but the same thing happened in the war of the worlds... when the tri-pods came out of the ground it was like an earthquake...
know what im sayin?
