Looks like the NE of Nigeria. Interesting.

It's possible we still have to "ZF each" to get something out of it.

http://www.hhmi.umbc.edu/toolkit/processing/nih/ZF.html is the only link about "ZF"ing I found (it shouldn't 404 anymore, the period ending the sentence was too close).

There's also this: http://www.mtnmath.com/book/node53.html

Ideas?

Alright, my roommate gets mad credit for figuring this one out:

The location numbers, "111100101010000100, 11001011110100101000000" are binary numbers. Converting them to their numeric values gets you:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
248452, 6678848

...and putting the decimal after the first two digits (as per the morse code) gets you:

24.8452, 66.78848

Plugging that in to Google Earth pulls up a much more interesting looking location than the middle-of-nowhere Nigera. In fact, it looks like an industrial complex of some sort in Pakistan.

Still have no idea what the ZF is for.

EDIT: Aha! A bit more hunting around turns up that our mystery industrial complex is the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP). So why is our prince meeting at a power plant? It was shut down in 2002, and is being renovated to power up once again. For now, it's pumping out just 50 MW.

If someone has a good image host, I've got some satellite pictures I can put up.

EDIT #2: I've attached a satellite photo of the nuclear plant. (Thanks Sylvia!)

I have a flickr account or if you want you could get your own account with them or you could attach the images to your post and upload them directly here to UF.

well i dunno if i found something or not...but

doing some research into what that place might be, and i found this

maps tell me that the location is either
gwadur or lasbela

i found this page researching gwadur

http://www.saag.org/papers13/paper1284.html

on that page i found this

"# Iran is viewed as a prospective naval foothold for the Chinese Navy in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf. The first steps in this direction have already taken place with China developing Gwadur in Pakistan as a prospective naval base. Gwadur is located on Pakistan's border with Iran."

could that be a Chinese naval base?

also, i did a quick search about what "and
has often been mentioned in reference to an "A.Q" (unknown)"

one of my results in wikipedia was Al Qaeda

.....strange?

oops...lol,
overlooked satire's pic
Kanupp Nuclear Power Plant.JPG
guess its a power plant Laughing

...just so we're clear, I'm fairly certain it was supposed to be "OF", not "ZF". Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we're getting a little carried away trying to find anything related to ZF.

The stuff on Zermelo-Frankel set theory uses a bunch of logic symbols. Being as into math as I am, I'd like to think I'd recognize the extracted .gif if it were a mathematical logic symbol, so I don't think it has to do with our symbol.

A. Q.?

Ok, count me in on this one too, i guess. Is this the A. Q. we're looking for?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Qadeer_Khan

Quote:
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is a Pakistani Scientist and metallurgical engineer widely regarded as the founder of Pakistan's nuclear program. (His middle name is occasionally rendered as Quadeer, Qadir or Gadeer, and his given names are often abbreviated to A.Q.).

just found this too:

http://www.agenceglobal.com/article.asp?id=287

here's a bit from that page:

Quote:
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long had close ties. At times of crisis, Pakistan troops have served in the Kingdom, stiffening its defences. But Prince Khalid's visit, with its emphasis on military training and on the joint production of armoured vehicles, missiles and tanks, has given the relationship a new impetus, suggesting that a regional defence pact may be in the making.

Although the two events are unconnected, during the Prince's visit Pakistan successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable Ghauri missile with a range of 1,500 kilometres. The Ghauri missile is produced by the Khan Research Laboratories, Pakistan's main weapons facility, named after Abdul Qadeer Khan, the disgraced chief scientist behind Pakistan's nuclear programme, who has been accused of selling nuclear technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea.

The new call log has some interesting background noise... It sounds like a TV playing in the background, but I'll see if I can cut out the conversation and amplify it.
