Any GWU ARGers?

Just wondering if there is anyone going to the ARG demo at the GWU Alumni Reunion weekend (next weekend).

Link? Not at GWU, but friends did and another is a current employee and who is putting that on?!

edit: found it - among the list of activities for alumni weekend

Quote:
Alternate Reality Games Demo Presentation: John Maccabbee, writer, producer, award-winning game designer, and GW parent will be presenting a new alternate reality game (ARG). ARG's are interactive narratives that use the real world as a platform, often involving multiple media and game elements to tell stories.

Anyone know who this is?

edit edit: a little google suggests it might be the John Maccabee (note just one "b") who was the lead writer for the game Byzantine:The Betrayal and has a few other writing-related hits out there.

Since I did eventually go...
Yes, I believe that is correct. His bio cited an award from Germany that linked to the game from the Discovery Channel.

Sorry about that!

I'll remember that for future posts.

On a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 = horribly dislike, 5 = better than Cherry Garcia. I'd say a 3.

The demo involved audience participation and interaction.

However, I'd say the presentation was more geared toward a corporate / funder audience. People more likely to consider an ARG as part of their branding strategy.

Unfortunately, I'm more interested in ARGs as a vehicle to interactive narratives and storytelling. Hence, my neutral rating.
