The UF Forum Needs to Take Priority Over IRC! It seems that the IRC chat has become the focus of attention for information gathering and sharing. I have no problem with the regulars hanging out in there and sharing info (the cards told us to do this), but for those of us who can only rarely get in IRC chat (me) and those who can't get in there at all (a handful of others), it's a shame that IRC has become the focus for info. It should be posted here as well. I don't mind if it gets heavily discussed in there, but it needs to be reposted in here. I'd rather not dig through hours of chat logs about food and squirrels and whatever (you guys crack me up-- lol!) to find a few pieces of relevant info.
I would think the news of last night would be posted here. The "Changes to the Silverlader Site" thread hasn't been updated to reflect the addition of Loli's artwork, and there is no record in this forum (anywhere) of the new voicemail number. The latter means that non-IRC players won't get to hear the voice of 2S. It was so cool to have her appear on the scene all of a sudden, and it's a bummer to think that a lot of people don't even realize that they can call and listen to her message.
Continue with your IRC enthusiasm, but please, PLEASE make UF the central location for information sharing. Otherwise some rather valuable new pieces (K_Tree, Joy, etc.) will be excluded from the puzzle.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Um IRC? yes Well put Wandering, I agree. I haven't been in there lately, have been really sparse (blame school exams) but I come and go. I try to get on during the evening when characters are likely to pop up. But yeah, IRC shouldn't be the main focus. I felt so left out when I wasn't able to get in there the first week. I felt like I missed so much because the discussions here would be "yeah, from IRC blah blah blah and this happened in IRC blah blah blah" lol
BUT, I do adore you guys and enjoy my time each time I go in there. Just don't forget the uF! Don't forget the boards!
Maybe so much happens in chat because the PMs read the uF board? I dunno.... Its kinda creepy knowing that someone is watching everything you write down/think about.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It is more fuwhen this stuff happens live in the chat, but if you are in a different time zone or have to work when all the good stuff is happening (me), you feel totally out of it when there is a random forum mention a day or two later. More importantly, this forum is the only way for newbies to get caught up. I remember those first couple days reading 4 hours of old post and feeling like there were major jumps in progression whenever chat related info came up. Newbies can get around those humps, but its so much easier when it is all compiled here in some form. All that said, the chats are fun and i like getting involved in them when I have the time to get on.

I understand this gripe. For some of us... this is the only site they will use for SL. They may use the wiki on Despoiler, but most of the info they will get from here.
And to plow through 60 so pages of trailhead is really discouraging. We're going to pick up some more people after the game has started, and were probably going to need there ideas, also. We... (I'm bad about not updating wikis that I know are out dated) need to keep this as updated as possible.
And believe me... you don't want me editing it... I just screw it up somehow.

I asked 2C about that a while ago, about the cards watching us on here. He said the following in email:
"Our eyes don't wander where they shouldn't. We have morals and ethics. We don't need to go about gathering information through deception. Not our style. We hear what we hear and see what we see through many of you coming directly to us on the few websites where we are out in the open. We're not like anyone you've dealt with before.
Much Respect,
2C (Jonah)"
I got the idea from him that the cards learn a lot about what's going on through the voicemail, phone calls, and email. I'm sure myspace comes into play too.

At the beginning of each day (or the end of each day), we should have a bullet point list that breaks down (in a very brief, concise summary) what relevant things happened in the last day.
Today, it would look like.
*2S posted a bulletin entitled "Hi, Have We Met???" that included a stylized two of spades card made by Anonymous Loli. The card was a link to Silverladder. The bulletin also featured the phone number (I FORGET THE NUMBER - IT WOULD GO HERE).
*The phone number on 2S' bulletin went to a Seattle-area voicemail box that featured a greeting by 2S herself. (SUMMARY OF GREETING WOULD GO HERE).
*The front page of Silverladder was changed to feature the same 2S card (by Loli) that was on 2S' bulletin. For a brief time, the new voicemail number was on the front page of the site as well. The appearance of the card and the voicemail on SL seem to be the cards' way of showing that this was authorized and legitimate.
(We need a thread that is just these brief daily summaries of all relevant info from the previous 24 hours. It should be its own thread. The long, elaborate, drawn-out discussions of philosophy or ideas or interpretations of clues within SL can be kept in other threads. The summary thread should be just that-- summary. No comments on the summary. No debates. No arguments. No replies back and forth. Summary.)

I'll take this a step further with a suggestion.
I know for me personally, it's a lot easier to browse the forum before going into IRC. That way, there doesn't have to be a ton of people going in there asking "What Happened?". Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it'd be unnecessary if uF were updated as often as it should be. Just my 2 cents...

I'm sure things will be organized once the rabbit hole opens. There really isnt too much going on, just randomness and fun with the deuces. BUT I am working on a up to date thinger ma bobble for new players who come before the rabbit hole opens and would like a background into the story.
No promises but i am currently trying to get this mess organized.

I don't feel like my contributions are wiki-fiable, necessarily, but are you thinking about going into the wiki and doing some stuff?
I mean we have a Despoiler for a reason I guess...?

I concur wholeheartedly with these statements, and will work on helping out as much as I can.

A "Story so Far" thread often works well.
One person goes back and cuts & pastes all the relevent information that tells the story from the start to the current known information. Often linking to websites or even specific posts in uF.
Any new players can read that thread first. Get up & running and jump into the game ready to play. Then go back and read the extensive trailhead or other threads once they have an understanding what is happening.
Updates to the "Story So Far" occur when needed, again so those who have been away can quickly catchup (or lurkers can read the story without having to jump into IRC). Some folks never play but still want to know what happened.
And in the future, the "Story So Far" can serve as a reminder/historical reference to the game.
Just my 2 cents.

Wittgenstein - Like similar to what kona posted. I've seen this kind of thread and it helped me out with the other arg's. I just don't want to start a thread and have nothing but crap though. Right now all I'm doing is gathering up some info, general kind of info that will help players understand the gist of it. If you want to send me what you have to offer then please do (if you want) or just post it in the thread once it gets started.
The despolier is good of course. Well, I just think a thread like that might help give THIS place some organization. just my opinion.

definitely, paraphrasing the Trailhead thread and going through the despoiler should give you a good round-about place to start.

I'm going to post why I talk in IRC more often.
I am a lot like the Two of Clubs in that I like to talk. I like to talk a *lot.* I also like immediate feedback on my comments and ideas, and for that, IRC works better than the forum. Now, for things like... my two meetings with the Two of Clubs, I definitely post here on the forum. Granted, I do say them first in IRC, mostly because it's easier to spread the word and get everyone really freaking worked up with big news like that, but I do come here and post about them eventually (edit: eventually meaning within an hour for initial notification, within 24 hours for the summary of the action). I'll remind you all that most people ignored my "Meeting the cards" thread at first, and the majority even now probably haven't read it, even with a summary of my two-hour talk with him on there.
It's not that I ignore the forum, or I like the people that can't get on IRC less -- it's a matter of convenience.
That said, I am going to try to post on the forum more often.
