[Contact] Long discussion with that callous brute, Reggie

No chess, no love, no beliefs or emotions! Obviously the perfect patsy for Marcus and his cronies.

mos_eisley_bartendar: Now will you speak to me?
hexeditor00: Do you think she loves you?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Ah, there you are.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Who?
hexeditor00: You know who.
mos_eisley_bartendar: How did you get into my e-mail?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Or was it Alecia's you got into?
hexeditor00: I wouldn't touch her with your 10 foot pole. HOW DID HE KNOW ABOUT THIS!?
hexeditor00: You're not the only one passing information on about Ideltech employees.
mos_eisley_bartendar: You act like that is some sort of new revelation.
hexeditor00: You're the one astonished that I know things it seems. You may know the password but you won't get anything from me.
mos_eisley_bartendar: You're mistaken about my intentions.
hexeditor00: I would dare guess at your intentions I've only seen actions.
mos_eisley_bartendar: My intentions are far more simple. I merely want to play chess. A game?
hexeditor00: I'm not up to it right now.
mos_eisley_bartendar: And anyway, I'm not evil.
hexeditor00: Besides I don't dance with the devil by the pale moonlight.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I'm just choosing the most rational course.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Alecia may be batshit insane, but she seems to me the best option at the moment.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Should I help Ideltech, what will the result be? If Ideltech succeeds, they get TOBI and contract it out to their special friends in the name of "fighting terrorism."
mos_eisley_bartendar: Alecia, however, is in the intelligence gathering business.
mos_eisley_bartendar: It stands to reason that her primary motive is money.
mos_eisley_bartendar: That levels the playing ground.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Anyone is able to use TOBI, for a price. No special friends, no partners, everything works the way it should.
mos_eisley_bartendar: TOBI should never have been created, but it has, and no one is going to be able to destroy it.
hexeditor00: He's not going to turn into Skynet...
mos_eisley_bartendar: I never said he would.
mos_eisley_bartendar: But who is going to destroy it? Who can, and who is willing?
hexeditor00: This isn't superman III either. If it's to be shutdown how hard would it be?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Why don't you shut it down, then?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Go destroy it.
mos_eisley_bartendar: No person who is in position to shut down TOBI is willing to do so - they have a personal stake in it.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Either ideologically, emotionally, or financially.
mos_eisley_bartendar: TOBI is, therefore, effectively immortal unless something very strange and unprecedented happens.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I am not the kind of person to take that risk.
hexeditor00: But I'm not threatened by TOBI.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Why aren't you?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Everyone is threatened by TOBI.
hexeditor00: What can he do to me or you.. honestly?
mos_eisley_bartendar: To say that it's an invasion of privacy is an understatement. TOBI threatens to undermine everything.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Do I want the secret service at my house because TOBI detected me saying the word "bomb" and "president" in a personal e-mail to a friend?
mos_eisley_bartendar: And how can I depend on a future where the political situation stays the same?
mos_eisley_bartendar: What if another Alien and Sedition act is passed tomorrow?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Do you want TOBI aiding that
mos_eisley_bartendar: ?
mos_eisley_bartendar: I would assume not.
hexeditor00: So you don't fear TOBI you fear the people who might use it.
mos_eisley_bartendar: TOBI is like the death star.
mos_eisley_bartendar: The death star, by itself, is no threat to anyone. It's just a space station.
mos_eisley_bartendar: However, when staffed by imperial troopers, it tends to destroy Alderaan.
hexeditor00: There will always be ways to avoid software from finding "bomb" and "president" in your email. Why are you so worried?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Except TOBI is being specifically designed to find ways around that.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Figure out how to get to the message.
hexeditor00: So who's side are you one? Alecia's or someone elses now?
mos_eisley_bartendar: I work for Alecia, because I don't feel that the Restorers have any chance of success, and Alecia at least presents an alternative that will work.
mos_eisley_bartendar: By making TOBI available to everyone, it will become a sort of nuclear weapon.
mos_eisley_bartendar: It will eventually lead to its death.
hexeditor00: so you don't work for the rebellion, you don't work for the empire.. you want to work for the contractors who plan to steal the deathstar?
mos_eisley_bartendar: The rebellion, in this case, has no chance of success.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Therefore, being opposed to the Empire, I must side with the contractors.
hexeditor00: Who plan to steal it and use it for themselves.
hexeditor00: You're trying to tie a knot using two granny loops against each other and it's just not workin.
mos_eisley_bartendar: The contractors, however, will be using a super weapon.
mos_eisley_bartendar: A weapon that no one wants unleashed on their own planeet.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Therefore, to avoid doing so, people with vast resources will work to destroy TOBI.
mos_eisley_bartendar: That is my plan - to induce the death of TOBI by bringing into the hands of a person only working for their own benefit.
mos_eisley_bartendar: If TOBI is consolidated into the hands of a single entity that is extremely powerful, there is no chance of it being destroyed.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Alecia, however, may have a lot of resources, but she can't match multiple world governments working in unison to eliminate it.
mos_eisley_bartendar: TOBI, after all, has no value without purpose.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Tell me, John, why do YOU support Ideltech's creation and use of TOBI?
hexeditor00: I don't support anyone. I'm paid to look into things. My opinion is pure drivel.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Then how are you better than a person paid to steal the death star?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Why do you refer to me as the enemy?
hexeditor00: You just answered your own question.
mos_eisley_bartendar: The difference between yourself and me is that you are seeking to protect TOBI and keep it in the hands of a group who will undoubtably use it for evil purposes.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I, on the other hand, wish to take it to someone else who will undoubtably use it for evil purposes.
mos_eisley_bartendar: The key difference between my person and your person is that my person will never be able to hold TOBI for a long period of time.
hexeditor00: I don't get to pick who I'm up against. You on the other hand can choose. You have that luxury. You're a pawn volunteer.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Why can't you choose?
mos_eisley_bartendar: You're a human, aren't you?
mos_eisley_bartendar: One side is paying you, but you're free to reject that payment.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Hell, I'm sure anyone would pay to have your services.
hexeditor00: I've not been offered anything from anyone else. Sorry. Money covers expenses and toys. I can't chew on my convictions and wash them down with my morals.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Then you oppose Ideltech?
hexeditor00: I oppose whatever my employer pays me to oppose.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Nonsense. I know you're smart, and I know you believe something.
mos_eisley_bartendar: If money is your only consideration, do you not think you can't get more money from the other factions fighting for TOBI?
mos_eisley_bartendar: I would not doubt that Alecia would pay you, considering your talents.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Probably a good sum more than what you earn now.
hexeditor00: I know the fall line of what I'm doing. If it gets to steep. I'll bail. It's easy to find other people looking for my group's services.
mos_eisley_bartendar: If you continue onto this path, you may be capturing the Princess and her droid.
hexeditor00: Better her than me!
mos_eisley_bartendar: And better the people who suffer than you, too?
hexeditor00: The good of the many does not out weigh the good of the few. Sorry. I've done my crusading.
mos_eisley_bartendar: You're in the many.
mos_eisley_bartendar: When Ideltech is done and no longer needs you, where will you be?
mos_eisley_bartendar: In fact, your business will be obsolete.
hexeditor00: Sorry brother maynard. I'm not into being converted at this time.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I'm presenting a simple fact. Capturing the princess isn't going to help you.
mos_eisley_bartendar: It's going to hurt you and everyone you know.
hexeditor00: Hey I drink alcohol and I know it's bad for me too.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Would you drink alcohol if you knew it was going to end your way of life?
hexeditor00: You're preaching to the other man's choir.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Think about it.
mos_eisley_bartendar: How are you going to earn money once TOBI is operational?
hexeditor00: Finding ways to keep TOBI out.
mos_eisley_bartendar: Why should you be hired when TOBI does it cheaper and faster?
mos_eisley_bartendar: Have you told your employers about your future career option?
hexeditor00: Landau, Luckman, and Lake do not care about my plans after this job. It's about to run it course completely.
hexeditor00: Mind you. I think 6 moves ahead.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I'm still up for that game of chess, then.
mos_eisley_bartendar: You are also going to be in for a rude surprise when realize you can't keep TOBI out.
mos_eisley_bartendar: If it could be so easily defeated, Alecia wouldn't want it, and Ideltech wouldn't be holding out as they are.
hexeditor00: don't hate me becuase I'm beautiful.
mos_eisley_bartendar: I don't hate you, and I don't want you to hate me.

Mos-Don't underestimate us. We have right on our side, and Thad has not yet revealed his true nature or strength. The only hope is to stop TOBI and we are the only ones who want to.

I think that Thad and the Restorers are against both Ideltech (TOBI) *and* Alecia's OE (since she also uses current technology to gather information on private citizens). So maybe there are three sides to this story?

Mos, I just wanna chime in and say this is an excellent metaphor---
