Book One: Chapter I
Summary: Chapter I
On a cold day in April of 1984, a man named Winston Smith returns to his home, a dilapidated apartment building called Victory Mansions. Thin, frail, and thirty-nine years old, it is painful for him to trudge up the stairs because he has a varicose ulcer above his right ankle. The elevator is always out of service so he does not try to use it. As he climbs the staircase, he is greeted on each landing by a poster depicting an enormous face, underscored by the words "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU."

Ok so I got this out of it. There are three apparent spelling errors and one word I can make nothing of. I added interpunction and capitals in myself. Oh and the original had coloured instead of colored and smelt instead of smelled

An Ideltech Future
It was a bright cold day in april and thd (the) clocks were striking thirteen. Winston Smith, his chin nuffled (nuzzled) into his breast in an effort to escape the vile wind, slipped quickly through the glass door of Victory mansions, though not quickly enough to prevent a swirl of gritty dust from entering along with him. The hallway smelled of boiled cabbage and rag mats.
At one end of it, a colored poster, too large for indoor display, had been tacked to the wall.It depicted simplf (simply) an enormous face more than a meter wide. The face of a man of about forty-five with a heavy black mustache and ruuedly (ruggedly) handsome feautures. Winston made for the stairs. It was no use trying the lift, even at the best of times it was seldom working and at present the electric current was cut off during daylight hours. It was part of the economy drive in preparation for hate week.

It's the opening paragraphs from Orwell's 1984.

Weren't there some other references to 1984 here in this gae? Didn't the Amboy Monthly editorial on data mining mention it?
I wondered where Mos found this puzzle and is it leading us anywhere other than to set the atmosphere of the game. Where through TOBI the government is watching us?

They mention 1984 in the article about the protest. And I'm not sure about whether Mos is up to something specific, but he was in a private chat with Alecia the other night. Don't know if we technically know this ingame. There was an AChurch chat in Intellim, which is in game obviously, but Mos let it slip in ruaware that he was in there, so that's actually out of game. Did anyone by any chance stumble in there and see the user names in it?

No, what you and Alecia do in private is vastly disturbing and potentially physically dangerous. j/k
You can't complain about privacy when you're more than willing to share your level of proficiency in chat. Besides we don't know if it was personal or business... or both?
