HERE YOU GUYS GO.
geez, finally, right?

Like I said in email to Wandering Star, guys, I have a day job -- standard eight-to-five office job. In fact, I'm not even supposed to be making this post right now, but here you go. I'd better not lose my job over this. Razz

Okay. So as I said in an earlier post, I was emailed directly by the Ace of Hearts yesterday morning, asking me a few questions, and eventually letting me know that I'd been tested -- and passed. She set up a meeting between Jonah and myself, for 6:30 that evening. He was temporarily unsilenced (just for that afternoon) and we were allowed to converse through email, but I didn't know if he was allowed to talk to anyone else, so I didn't share that tidbit with other Passengers. (Sorry, guys. I would've hated to be like OMG HE'S UNSILENCED and then have him not be able to respond to *your* emails.)

My heart pounded as I got off the bus. I excitedly emailed Loli saying OMG I AM CROSSING THE STREET. (I'm serious. I did.)

The same rules applied, I was told, so I was glad I hadn't randomly gotten the desire to put my camera into my purse that morning. I got to our agreed meeting spot, and he was sitting, waiting for me. Now, let's get this out of the way, since everyone asks me.

He looks exactly as he described. He's a little taller than me (I'm about 5'8"), he's rather slim but quite muscular (he did tell us about how he works out twice a day, and it shows), and just like he said, he has short, messy, dark brown/almost-black hair. It's real, I promise. I touched it. I also told him about you guys saying he was bald after I touched it. Razz He seemed a bit offended. LOL. (I may have obsessed over... certain qualities in IRC, and when Jane emailed me this morning to ask how the meeting went, I told her he has a smile that could melt the coldest of hearts.)

I got the requisite hug, and he handed me a book. "This is for you." Okay, back story time. On his myspace, it has The Catcher in the Rye listed as his favorite book. I also enjoy this book, and had intended to tell him this from the very beginning. I finally got around to it... Oh, last weekend, I think. He messaged me back and told me this whole story about how one day while he was in college, it was so nice outside, and he *really* didn't want to go to class, so... he didn't. He went to a local bookstore, purchased a copy of The Catcher in the Rye, and spent all day on his patio reading it. So when he handed me this book... it was The Catcher in the Rye. "This isn't any copy of that book," he said. "This is THE book from the story I told you." (cue "awwwwwww.")

He asks if we can sit outside instead, saying the fluorescent lights would drive him crazy. I agree, and on the way out, I ask him the first question that had been presented to me by you guys. I asked him if he wore Polo cologne, because if he did, he was done for… because Nikki said so. Smile (She wants to shoot me for this, btw.) No, Nikki, he doesn't. He doesn't even remember what it's called. His wife buys it for him. Razz

On the way, we start discussing Loli, because she'd sent me an email that I fully intended to have him read directly off my Sidekick. (Rather personal, so no copypasta for you.) We talked about a lot of you guys a lot, actually, and he didn't speak ill of anyone. He adores us all, he really does. He read her email, and told me to tell her to not worry about it.

Now, keep in mind, guys, we talked for TWO HOURS. Those of you that have had the pleasure of actually conversing with him know that he's the kind of guy that crams a lot of information into a very small timeframe. We talked about a lot of stuff, not all of it SL-related. Some of it is quite private and personal, relevant only to the two of us, and some of it I really can't remember for the life of me. It tends to come in spurts, and I'm sure I'll continue to remember small pieces as the topics get presented either here or on IRC. All I ask is that you trust me when I say "2C said this..." or "Jonah said that..." Okay? Cool.

Most importantly, he wanted to stress that the Deck is NOT anti-corporation... with a c. They are not anarchists; they do not want you to throw a Molotov Cocktail through the front of a Wal-Mart. Capitalism has its place, and it's very useful in today's society, but it has its strengths and it has its weaknesses. What they are, however, is anti-korporation... with a k. As soon as a business becomes so absolutely large that it loses touch with its own customers, loses touch with its own employees – that is when it becomes korporation. When it treats you like you're replaceable, that is when it becomes korporation.

We talked about personalities, both of the players and of a few of the cards. A phrase he used for us (especially, *especially* the Core) was "strong personalities." It's not that we're argumentative, or that we just don't work, it's just... when you get so many people that are so passionate about things into a small space (like this forum, or the IRC channel) clashes will happen. People will misread things, people will leap to conclusions. It's natural.

A phrase he also used a lot in relation to personalities was "mean-spirited." That's when the Six of Clubs came up. Apparently, the Aces recruited the Deck based upon certain personality traits. The Six of Clubs had a lot of the personality traits, but he also had a horrible mean streak. He wanted power, and he wanted it THEN. He left the Deck right before he was kicked out of it, and decided to 'do his own thing.' Now, the Aces aren't worried about him feeding us information (6C was *extremely* limited in the knowledge he had, learning not much more than 2C himself knows) so much as they're worried about him feeding us *false* information, and saying it's real. Jonah said something about him feeding information that's obviously false that he wouldn't have otherwise -- something only... say, a Nine or higher would know.

Something else he also said was mean-spirited was those postcards that someone sent Lisa. Now, I never saw these postcards with my own eyes, but he told me about them, and I'd have to agree. They were extremely mean-spirited. He was also very clear on this topic that the Korporation are professionals. Evil professionals, but professionals nonetheless. They'd never stoop to that low of a level as that.

Also quite relevant: 2S is not making phone calls. She has a voicemail, yes, but she is not making telephone calls. She'll answer you through email, and myspace, and occasionally, her voicemail message may change to answer questions you may have sent, but she isn't calling anyone. Jonah said that she'll talk and talk and talk over email or myspace and things, but the instant you get her on the telephone she clams up.

He said that the Korp is doing everything in their power to stop the rabbit hole from opening on 11/11, and I mentioned the warehouse fire. He nodded, and said that probably 95% of the stuff inside is destroyed. He laughed, and mentioned a trashcan with orange peels surviving, but nothing was written on the orange peels. (I STILL THINK YOU IRC PEOPLE ARE LOOKING WAAAAAAAY TOO CLOSELY AT THAT) I believe it went something like Jonah: "Oh, but a trashcan survived!" Me: "*laugh* Oh, that's good!" Jonah: "So did the orange peels inside it! But nothing important was written on the orange peels." Also, just in case you guys are curious, the warehouse was quite small... He related to being just about the size of the dining area of the fast-food place we were sitting outside.

On the topic of the Korp: On Wednesday, after he went out the door after giving me my gift and receiving my gifts to him, a man had been standing behind him. That man looked me straight in the face after he left and said, "Did you find something?" I shook my head, and said no. Now... I mentioned that guy to Jonah, and he said it was ... odd. He suspects it was a Korporation spy, and he says he noticed the guy out of his peripheral vision staring at us, and that he saw him in the parking lot before he came into our meeting place. He suspects the Korp is tailing him while he's up here in Phoenix. (Remember, he usually lives/works in Tucson.) THIS IS BAD for super-paranoid-Erin because that means they know my face now. Sad He kept looking back over his shoulder the whole time we were talking, and looking around.

We talked a lot about personalities, like I said... He asked me to relate to you guys not to take anything that 2D says or does personally -- He just won't talk unless you prove to him why he should. That's why me telling him "conversation builds trust" worked. 2S thinks answers over before she responds (and she's QUITE different, as he reiterated many times), and 2H... Well, he said with her, you have to take the initiative. She usually doesn't just... talk randomly, I guess.

We talked about Nikki's ANGRY LETTER to the Aces, and how it got a mixed reaction, but apparently "lit a fire under the Ace of Hearts," as he put it, and that's pretty much the reason she emailed me yesterday and set this all up. All the cards talk about all the Passengers, and as he reminded me, once you give them your information, they have it. Only gave your email address to 2S? Nope, all the other cards have it too. That's why 2H and the Ace of Hearts knew my email address, even though I'd only given it to 2C and 2D directly.

He also wanted to remind you guys THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION FOR GIFTS. There is no car at the end. He is also not Bob Barker, even though his hair apparently moves just about as little as Bob's hair does. (this is when I poked his hair, and pointed out that he lies, because it moved when I poked it.)

We discussed how similar we are as people, we discussed the similarities in our high school experiences, things like that.

We talked for just about two hours, like I said... He walked me to the bus stop (buying something from Hi-Health on the way, which made me giggle a little) and he waited with me for the bus to come so I wouldn't be sitting there alone in the dark. It was very sweet of him. Smile

As the bus pulled up and I got my last hug, he said "I'm spoon-feeding you this information. I am leaving because I am late." No, I don't know what that means. Part of me thinks it has to do with the rabbit hole.

There you go. That's all I can remember right now. I'm sure over the course of the week it'll say "Edited Eleventy Million Times in total" at the end of my post. Smile

edit ONE: look at that, I already remembered something. Scare, and a few others, asked me to ask him what his thoughts were on how we could improve our teamwork and things. His answer was simple. "Organize and centralize."

edit TWO: Wandering reminded me. Jonah talked a lot about how some things after the rabbit hole opens will be extremely concrete and easy to figure out, and some things will be so vague it'll drive us up the freaking wall. Some people will love some content, some people will hate the same content, and vice versa.

He also discussed how some people will have to take a break sometimes, whether it's for a day, or a week, or a month. Some people will be able to stick with it until the very end. Some people will take this whole experience as a whole, some people will only take away a little part and make it their own. Everyone is going to change and grow differently because of this whole thing.

Thank you so much for outlining the whole thing. I saw much of the story in IRC, but I wanted an archive of the whole thing and I know others would too. I know you're busy, so thank you for taking the time to type the whole thing up. You know some important details and I'm glad you shared them.

Thanks for the recap. I got some of it in IRC, but I was gone for most of it.

About how all the cards have our email addresses, do you know if that applies if we only provided it to Transmission?

Or if you've emailed them. For example, I gave a gmail address to them, but then when I got my Sidekick, I got a new tmail address (that's in my signature) and I started emailing 2C and 2D from it -- and that's the one that 2H and the Ace of Hearts emailed.

Just so you know. Smile

WOW! Sounded like a great conversation. Cool that you two got along so well! Very Happy

Yea, I know they must share everything. I think they have a sheet with all of our email and names and personality traits with certain email/voicemail we have left for them (for reference purposes). Hmm. I think that they want EVERYONE involved, calling or emailing or leaving messages. The more we do, the more they can learn our personalities and more they could/would tailor to our needs or whatever. It's pretty exciting.

I want to meet a card! lol. Nah, I think I might be too nervous. Unless this certain card talked most of the time and was nice. SUPER nice and not nervous. lol.

Hmmm, I bet you will meet him again!

The first time I read your message, my eyes caught that and I saw "The more we do, the more money they can earn." and I was like, WTF? I HOPE that's not what the deck was about.

Then I read it again and realized my goof. =)

[2007-11-11 12:07:03] <analogwatch> Oh, Jonah, I've actually been dying to know -- did you pass along that phrase to intelligence cards?
[2007-11-11 12:07:41] <TwoOfClubs> Yeah, that guy was Korp. He was seeing if you'd respond to his code correctly. You didn't. You are non-Korp.
[2007-11-11 12:07:47] <analogwatch> Of course I am.
[2007-11-11 12:08:44] <analogwatch> That makes me nervous, of course.
[2007-11-11 12:11:37] <analogwatch> Do you know what might've happened if I answered correctly?
[2007-11-11 12:11:54] <TwoOfClubs> They would have made you an offer.

So he WAS Korp!
