The phone number in the Whois is for a Residential phone listing in New York. My guess is OOG

Ok so according to my sources...
The person who registered this website bought and setup the site on Oct 16.
The person also owns a bunch of sites unrelated to any of this but also owns http://cloverfieldproject.com/ and http://www.boldfutura.org/
The boldfutura.org did not come up for me and the Cloverfieldproject site did come up and is a news site for the ARG/Viral Marketing/Movie.
My source wouldn't give me the name of the person who it is actually registered to but I don't think it matters. So take what you will from all of this. I am leaning towards what everyone else is... OOG.
Maybe it is going to be another news\update site.
thanks
so the person running cloverfieldproject.com wants to spark the mystery by creating more confusion - how lame

The phone number 2123669993 from the whois lookup is not in service at this time. I just tried calling.
Is anyone surprised?
By the way, I think registering with fake information is illegal.

I just thought i'd chime in here, to remind myself that i'm still a part of the forum. javascript:emoticon(' ')
Very Happy
I say OOG. I think the key here is the lack of the bold futura logo, and the lack of the tagurato logo.
I would think that the bold futura, parafun, and the yoshida medical research websites would have been registered at the same time as the tagurato website, simply to hold the space online.
It's good that this has been deemed OOG though, 'cause it looks like this could have been a potential game jack, too.

couldn't agree more. hell they even added the tagruato logo to the slusho page to hammer the point home that slusho is a subsidiary to it.

It's *supposed * to be.
I've never seen it enforced in a case where it was constructive. I saw a case where two people who were largely trolls antagonized each other and the more offensive of the two got a domain revoked then bought it .

Okay who are your sources? I know I'm new in the forum but I really think taking someone's word that can't possible back it up is stupid! This person can't give us a name or hard copy of anything to prove whether his or her SOURCES are legitimate. We all have opinions but that's what they are, or if someone does have proof, they link to it. I've been reading this forum since July and one of the things that impressed me was their ability to substantiate their claims. Give us a name or phone number or an email address at godaddy that can back up any of your information.

Rose - Putting fake information as your contact info isn't illegal. I'm a web designer--I do it as my side job--and there are many sites that are registered to fake residences. Your contact info is what shows up on 'Whois' search engines and many people simply don't want people bothering them at home. (Take, for instance, "Henry Kelvin" and the whole Santa Monica airport phone number)
When you register a website, naturally you have to use real info, otherwise they wouldn't make your site active--that is, of course, because you need to give the address associated with your credit card. But that info isn't searchable on WHOIS databases. That's a secure transaction between you and your domain provider and they can't release that info unless you break the law. But your contact info for WHOIS databases is completely up to you.
When I register sites for clients, I ask if they want that information made available on their WHOIS profiles and many of them say no, so I simply put "XXXXX" in all the contact fields. It's a common thing.

Might not be illegal, but however you look at it, it's lame as hell.
This guy has done several of these sites.
He has a website dedicated to solving the mystery of the movie and he's subverted our efforts numerous times for personal gain. (e.g. purchasing domain names that we would look for and redirecting them to his website)
I havent even been to cloverfieldproject.com in months because I think the guy is a douchebag.

Re: Answers Wow some people are just so paranoid that someone is just trying to throw a wrench into the game. Besides the information wasn't that outstanding anyway so I don't think there needs to be a big arguement whether it is legit.
Now maybe if i was dropping a call sheet of the final scenes of the movie I would understand people wondering about my sources and the legitimacy of them.

Wow some people are just so paranoid that someone is just trying to throw a wrench into the game. My source works for godaddy, and out of respect for them I am not going to give their name. I don't know if they could get in trouble for giving this information out. And my source was going to give me a name but I SAID it wasn't necessary. The site is clearly OOG and I didn't want anyones job risked over a game for one, and for two a completely unimportant part of the game, a part of the game that is OOG and will have no relevance to anything what so ever.
Besides the information wasn't that outstanding anyway so I don't think there needs to be a big arguement whether my source is legit.

Personally i think it would be a great help to have this person from godaddy helping us out giving us information on websites created through them. But if they know their job is at risk they aren't going to be willing to do it. So either you can question the credibility of the information or you can accept it and we can continue using my source. The choice is yours.
The answer is your source can loose their job for accessing a customers records without authorization. I worked for GoDaddy for two years and reps aren't allowed in records without the customers permission. The customer has to give them their PIN or last four digits of the CC on file for the account in order for the rep to view their information. If you don't believe me call their help line or ask your source. Playing the game is one thing, but accessing private information is another. I have already called my friends at the Scottsdale office and ask them of the breach. Evidently the owner of the domains in question has already filed a written complaint and it is being investigated. I have found this movie and ARG very interesting, but I have an immense amount of respect for GoDaddy. They are an excellent company who have treated me very well. Playing this game has been a stimulating experience, but endangering one's friends over something this insignificant is bloody ridiculous.
