Duckie I can totally accept that this is just some backstory leading up to the movie, but isn't that what we all expect it is? Can it have some jokes and humor in it too? Certainly.
Finding humor in knowing they are all probably going to die or at least loose a friend on the fateful day - that's just macabre. I like it. Twisted Evil
But actually I think that same reasoning of our foreknowledge of their fates can also increase the sense of suspense and dread that goes with such a thriller sort of a movie.

All movies have a sort of a 'backstory', some have it in preexisting works, while others work to create it, and others incorporate it into the movie. A few explain or create it later, as a sequel or a form of fan support. The new way of creating the backstory for us here is what's novel and fun to me.

this is what i think about this whole game/thing that we are following here as pertains to jamieandteddy.com & the myspace profiles:

in any good horror/thriller movie a portion of that movie is dedicated to character development to flesh out the protagonists and ultimately make you feel sorry for them when michael myers comes around the corner and knifes them. now if they didnt go through the character development process you wouldnt give a crap if they live or die in the end and the whole movie experience would be less satisyfing to you.

in short i believe this side of the game is a fresh, new, and expanded take on character development.. x1000.

I posted a new video

I posted a video about this new 3rd vid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NDuz_fz9VE

I have come to much of the same conclusions that you guys have. I would like to say that as a filmmaker, I can tell you that there are no accidents. Everything you are seeing is there because the filmmaker wanted you to see it. If you discount data you are doing so becuase you are choosing to ignore certain points being made by the filmmaker.

I am sure that the unit which has been established to create these Jamie vids is doing so by the book (JJ Abrams' book, that is). Certain elements are required to be employed. Now, are all of these elements clues to help us figure out something important about the movie? Certainly not. Some are there to help define characters, or flesh out environments, etc.

The "Ge..." at the end of the 3rd video is hugely important. If this was just some random female who just crashed in Jamie's bed last night then Jamie would most likely have waited until way after she was done recording her message to get her up. She may have even went to her kitchen to get her friend some juice or coffee. But no, she couldn't even wait to confirm that the camera was off before she yell either "get up" or "get out." Clearly she was familiar with this person if she chose to take that tone with her/him. And remember...the "Ge..." is there because we are suppose to hear it. LIke the mashed potatoes in Close encoubters, it means something.

Again, here is the url to my new youtube video...

Everyone is sticking to only two things she could shout at a person, "GET OUT" and "GET UP".
Consider that the person is basically laying on her thigh, hand at the waist. That's a bit intimate, don't you think?
If that's a guy she slept with, or a woman she doesn't know, she has every reason to say "GET OFF/AWAY FROM ME".
Considering the phonetics of it, and how horny some people think our party girl Jamie is, couldn't she be yelling "GIVE ME ANOTHER ORGASM!"
(OK, that last part was just for humor's sake.)

She could be also yelling at marlena to get the #$% here to take care of her cousin.

get...

Whatever she is saying, it is her change in attitude that seems to be the key. She goes from a calm manner to loud in seconds. Something has her upset. The only cue we got that could have affected her mood was the sudden emergence of this other person from beneath the pillow. She blows it off while the camera is recording, but turns on a dime and gets louder when she thinks she has turned it off.

Now because we are all very creative people I am sure we can imagine that she might be saying all sorts of things at the end of this vid. I think, however, that this particular clue ("ge.." something) should be taken at face value. We only have "ge..." She got pissed and screams "ge..." I don't mean to offend anybody but this is not hard math. Playing this game takes a great deal of online brainstorming. It is part of the process to throw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks. So, it seems to me that this time "Get out" or "Get up" stick.

This is actually the closest thing I've seen to being a corporate humor ARG I've ever seen. In fact, I'm really only discounting it because it's not quite a game.
Heck, if you didn't already know that these people are only a few months away from a terrible death, it's hilarious. Consider:

Jamie video one-- she crawls up all sexy on the bed, and anyone who has read all the "maybe she made him a sex tape!" spec has to be going "oh. my. god"
And then she talks about a bladder infection! I don't know about you, but that's hilarious.
Rob and Beth are tragically funny. If the PMs weren't deliberatly setting out to have Rob obsess over Beth, they sure picked up on it. "I'll eat your pickle". Great stuff.
Should I even mention the Vernon Macdooble reviews? I wish I could write like that.

I think this video is just supposed to be funny. If this experience were a TV show, we'd be watching "friends," not "lost" and not "days of our lives".

If it were Days of our lives, it would turn out that the person in her bed is Rob's cousin AND Noriko's long lost daughter who, before having a sex change, was teddy's old boyfriend.
If it were Lost or a legit game, the person would have a blog, which would lead us to puzzles, which would lead us to other fascinating things.

But nope. It's just funny.

Just my opinion, of course, but I doubt this game will ever result in a major break, especially not one that reveals something about the movie.

All that said, I'm happy for backstory.

I think you're generally right - I mean, there does seem to be a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor thrown into this, esp. the Jamie videos. I see a lot of what people think are clues as just being jokes. At the same time, though... you never know. Shocked

Seriously, though, it's a good point. Trouble is - even with tongue-in-cheek humor, there still could be clues hidden in there. However, I think that given the ARE nature of things so far (vs. ARG), it's safe to assume that there aren't many clues hidden in the things we've seen so far. And, that means they're just trying to keep it light. The basic mood so far is: wait for more information, and esp. wait for the movie; in the meantime, enjoy! So, there's a lot of humor. Makes perfect sense.

At the same time, I agree that nothing in Jamie's videos is by accident. That "Ge(t)...!" yell at the end is interesting. I doubt she'd be that angry at anyone just walking in on her, esp. since she was done. So, it's got to be directed at the person next to her.

So, here's the question: is there any way Jamie could not be allowed to edit her videos - is there some reason why she might have only 1 chance to record them and send them off... something on Teddy's end? That would explain a lot.

It could just be Jamie's lack of technical know-how. The site is registered to Teddy, not Jamie. So, if Teddy set it up for her, or at least gave her the equipment and told her what to do, then it's possible that she only knows how to start, stop, and send a video. And, that's all. Hence, no editing. She might not even know how to delete a file and just start over from scratch. Maybe anything recorded gets saved, not on Jamie's computer, but on a site that Teddy has access to - who knows?

Anyway, we'll never 'figure it out' because we don't have enough information. The simplest explanation for a lot of our speculation, though, would be that Jamie just doesn't know how to do anything w/regard to the videos; hence, the UTI talk, and the person in the bed, and Jamie's general clumsiness and lack of style on these videos. We'll see, I suppose.

I still like to think that sense the site is held by Teddy, that when in Vid 2 we heard the "Cornbread" thing, it was actually Teddy hiding something. I really didn't feel like resurrecting the vid 2 thread to say that, but any thoughts?

Because, as Jamie puts it: "It would be a really good way for him to see her gorgeous face whenever he wants."

This is a really good point.

She can barely operate the camera, so editing the video is out of the question. So what she shoots, is what he gets.

Maybe Teddy set the webcam up before he left so she could make these videos for him. Can't you set the webcam software to automatically post your video to the web after you take it?

Even if you could get the videos to post automatically, someone has to setup the link on the webpage for each new video. And that web page says "for my baby", which implies to me that it was setup by Jamie as a way to give something to Teddy.

Of course, that seems to conflict with the way Jamie is portrayed as a bit of a techno-klutz. I get the subtle feeling that some of what we're getting is being made up as they go along, since we've seen some apparent inconsistencies (e.g., Hawk mentions chugging a Slusho back in early June, but Tagruato is just now gearing up their campaign to market it in the US). Ah well, it's a fun ride anyway!
