3. As for correcting players, it is up to the community to decide that. In a game with no strict rules enforced by the moderators as to topic creating (meaning no locking, no hiding policy), it is up to the players whom there are many more than moderators to be able to offer advice to newcomers.

There is the terms of service which I quoted above. You might note that the emphasis is on inclusion. There is no mention of any limitation on starting new threads, however, flaming is mentioned as something to be avoided.

The posting guidelines ask that people search before posting. Once again I will suggest that if someone posts a duplicate thread you can choose to ignore it if it bothers you or link to an existing thread if you prefer. Simply showing people the correct place to post or using the trout as mentioned above, sets an example for people to follow. People do learn. If you can't find the right link to post, maybe the person who started the new thread couldn't either. Simple suggesting that people search, without posting the correct thread, isn't very useful. And, again, posting at all is a choice, no one ever has to reply to any post.

Also, again, the reasons for the posting guidelines, the TOS and the purpose of unfiction are carefully thought out and purposeful. These ideas I'm trying to explain to you aren't whims. They matter and they are an essential part of the collaborative process that happens here at unfiction.

The unfiction policies apply to allow players to post what they want, within very reasonable limits. I appreciate all the input and I understand the frustration of players seeing the same thing brought up again repeatedly. But, it isn't reasonable for any player to expect to be able to post whatever they want within the unfiction guidelines while simultaneously wanting to restrict the ability of other players to post.

No I've never read any other forum about this promotion. Just keeping up here is all I can manage. Wink

Seriously though, I think this community here at unfiction has its own standards, norms, whatever you call it. Not that they are written down in any sense more than the simple phrase "Play Nice."

Here, Here.

If you're asking one group to moderate their posting;
then the other should make an effort to moderate the flames. Some of the established posters here are quite generous and trigger-happy with them.

...but some posters are well deserving of the flamings they've gotten... I will not name names ::coughd2dcough:::
