*shrugs* hey, you never know. I'd file it away. It might pop up at some point.

the symbol
for what it's worth

Ok, it might be a red herring, but here's what I got anyway... not much different from before. I'd like to think both the symbol and the MURA pattern are relevant, but then I just really, really hate red herrings, blech. Razz

Bashir Mahmood was the architect of Pakistan first atomic bomb. He also invented an instrument to test water leaks in Heavy Water Cooled Reactors used in nuclear plants. The instrument is still used today worldwide. He was arrested in 2001 for having contacts with the Taliban. Mahmood was assigned the task as the first Project Director of the Pakistan Nuclear Bomb Program named Kahuta Research Labs. He worked closely with A.Q. Khan. Mahmood is credited with the Khushab design; a powerplant that produces Pakistan's plutonium.

there's a start...

Who is Gabriel?

I asked JC "why Gabriel" and this is the response I got:

Quote:
Gabriel is Saul's son... or step-son. I'm not sure. I picked the code because it would be easy for him to remember.

So apparently the Red-Monday site is how JC communicates with Saul, as well.

notice the people on JC's twitter...there's a "saul"

Funny thing is...the man's a fashion designer or something of that nature.

Chat Log

What the hell is the chat log all about?

I couldn't follow it.

Scotiobade, please explain what this is and why JC has it.

Okay, well, I chased my tail over this whole MURA thing all morning, and I realized something. One thing we (or at least I) didn't notice about MURA is that the pattern of the array varies pretty widely based on the arrangement of the cameras taking the image you're trying to 'decode'. The pattern that shows up on extract.gif isn't just a generic MURA, it's a really specific MURA used in the LEGRI. I don't know exactly how this fits in, except that the region it is studying contains "unique, not fully explored, astrophysical information regarding nuclear excitation processes, radioactivity, cyclotron emission and absorption processes", which seems SOMEWHAT consistent with the recurring theme of nuclear programs.

Thoughts?

That's the only thing I came up with when I found the pattern; funny thing is, I was practically hopeless that I would find the pattern, especially with this search for the symbol and our luck in matching anything. But the way I found it was just to type "pattern" in Google image search and it was right there on the first page. It led me to the LEGRI page.

Nuclear excitation and radioactivity are the only links so far. Another thing: why would you need to take a picture of a symbol with such an aperture? Was it for encryption purposes? Aren't there easier ways of encrypting images than to rig up a complicated camera? Otherwise, we may be looking at something that wasn't necessarily meant as a symbol.

The chat log comes from the game being called Shroud 2.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21310

How/Why JC has it? I don't know.
