I would think all you need to do is find a camera that plays DV's,insert tape and .....Use a USB Cable to transfer it? If not you could just find a way to watch it,and describe what you see.Maybe that'd count.

Your dad sells video equipment for a living and all you need is a DV camera. Where's the problem?

What you need is a dv-camera, firewire and some diskspace. You just transfer the film to your drive, if it's a long running time you probably haveto re-encode and compress it as well. dv will consume alot of disk space.

Do you have access to a DV camera? Does it have a "play" button? If yes, you can stop panicking.

xFishk, the only thing you did was probably try to play a tape that was 'protected' meaning it can't be recorded over, and the camera did warn you because you where in recording mode.

You have to switch modes in your camera, to the mode where you are able to play back and watch/transfer what is on the tape.
