[SPEC] Third Floor Previsualization Previsualization for the cloverfield trailer Ive just checked www.cloverfieldclues.com and noticed he has posted a new entry with relation to the Previsualization scenes used for the trailer. I would suggest checking it out or watching the video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OBMWJflJg0
I know im kinda stealing the lime light for all the leg work that cloverfieldclues did, but ive just viewed it and thought that it was intresting, i also thought that it would be worth studying because there could be some stuff drawn into the previz that we might not of noticed in the original trailer.
I would suggest going over to www.cloverfieldclues.com to see what he has said.
(I checked and couldnt find this topic mentioned anywhere else so i hope this hasnt been a topic already.)

Actually, Dennis (CloverfieldClues) is a regular poster here at uF. I can't speak for him, but if you're interested in something he's doing or have a question, you can probably just drop him a comment in one of the threads.

Thanks for posting this A_champion .
I wasn't sure about posting it here since it's not part of "the game", but it is very interesting. I just wish there was more footage available.

Have you tried contacting them for the footage?

They have a projects section on their website with longer clips of other projects. If they had something longer for Cloverfield, that they were allowed to make public, they would probably have it up there. (but yes, I have contacted them)

I noticed something kinda interesting ( but its probably nothing )
In the two still shots on cloverfieldclues.com, you have a better view of the explosion from the trailer ( in a digital format ) It looks like that explosion isn't in the center of the city but a little behind the center. ok i know my wording is kinda confusing but compare the two images on the top. It just might be unfinished CGI work and it just appears like its behind the heart of the city because its an unfinished model.
anyway, im interested in hearing all of your opinions about this
ps. like i stated in the first sentence, its probably nothing but i guess its worth a mention.

Here's their answer
Quote:
Dear Dennis,
We have no other information about the movie.
Please remove the section of our demo reel you placed on You Tube. If people want to watch our reel on our website, that's fine, but we can't sanction having this clip on You Tube.
Thanks for your understanding,
The Third Floor, Inc.
I has a feeling that contacting them was not a good idea. It's easier to ask for forgiveness that to get permission...

The company seems to be very proud of their Cloverfield work. There are several mentions of Cloverfield/1-18-08 on their site. Two of the seven founders of the company worked on the project.
Looks like they'll also be working on the new Star Trek movie. From their websites news section:
08-27-07
The Third Floor is thrilled to announce that our artists have been requested for JJ Abrams' newest directorial project.

I've heard of this company before. They use a high-tech version of the program called Vue Desprit to create their digital environments.... I've got Vue version 3.0: its pretty amazing software... love creating massive landscapes and stuff, and then in some cases you can export them to other game developing programs [for example, I used Vue (and a modding tool) to make a level for FarCry last year].
Would be Coolio if I had their NYC environment Vue file to check out with my version lol.

Very bad form, they're protecting their work, nothing wrong with that, Like they said, its free on their website.
