sorry with all props to jawbone, he posted it in this topic http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21706 but i thought this could use a separate thread.

so international release dates could just b altered like this? hmmm , somehow i dont like the idea...but ah well

 		I took a peek at that site and the first thing I noticed is that the cityscape looked a bit different in their background 'poster'. The image is obviously wider, and so I decided to compare the background of the French site to the US released poster.
I found that the SoL on the French image is larger but otherwise 1:1 to the US image. The bottom of the SoL is cropped in the French image (we don't see her pedistal). The sky is cropped down as well. The cityscape is stretched to fit the greater width, and looks pretty well centered the same on the SoL, using her torch side as the centerline. This suggests to me that the French image was generated by using the original layered image version, just working in the cityscape layer to fill the space. This wouldn't be too surprising, as they are quite possibly done by the same graphic artist - but there's something a bit odd...

I can understand the French might want the SoL to stay properly proportional in their image - it was a gift from them after all. However when I looked at the cityscape I found something else peculiar. I don't think it's a clue of any importance, but did someone throw something in as a joke or some other little jab?

I don't get why they would alter the cityscape like that. Its so minimal, lacking any importance to the change...I don't get it, even if "as a joke", I don't get the joke.

perhaps its only suppose to appear as a small change but it may mean somthing bigger..



somthing so small.... which you think if it was a LARGE release they pay very close attentionto the poster which also leads to the obvious possibility that it was altered on purpose.....well maybe purpose isnt the correct term maybe... placed with intent

The building on the left looks so different than what's in the original, I wondered if maybe it was perhaps meant to look a bit like someplace in France. Perhaps a place that would be an insult to the French?
I figure maybe someone French might see this and if it's anything interesting, they'll recognize it.

Overall it's interesting that they made this wider poster this way. Shows me they basically only took the time to make one image that was meant for the vertical poster style, and they are now re-using it rather than invest in making a subsequent image.

Edit: This also basically tells us there's not 'more' of the image than was used in the US poster.

so they fixed it up to where theres a building that Franch would find breathtaking to see detryoed or the possibility of ?...

what building in new york would the french freak out about?

 		I don't think there is any mystery.

They changed the poster from portrait to landscape. They shrunk the left side of the poster to fit the height, but kept the city on the right full size. To keep lady liberty in the same spot, they had to add a little city to the left.

 		I actually stumbled across this site while doing a domain search. Was gonna make a new topic, but read the countdown thread and decided to just throw it out there.
Good job finding the difference in the images though. I had kinda put the site aside to check out later but forgot to get back to it.

Also, just a bit of info for yas, I haven't seen this site mentioned anywhere else but Paramount registered TheCloverfield.com back in Feb. Razz
