Well, hate to break it to you guys, but there's bad news... well, mixed with a bit of good news... actually the good news might end up being better than the bad news.

I finished the second half... I was a little dismayed, for two reasons - as I went on, I noticed the results were the same as the first half... also, that meant all the work on the first half was for naught, because none of the frames were overlaid either.

However, this one's twice as long, so now along with the FOOT LAS VEGAS NEWS BUREAU 4-6-5'9 (which I'm not even sure is a 9, or an intentional '), we also now have
"Variety Convention Taylor" (though it could be TayCor)

the last word seems to match the similar word from the PDF background.

I'd like to take the time to say- I think I love you for this post.

well we've definitely got the 'frame by frame' clue down.. now.. the "signposts"....

there is that famous welcome sign in las vegas that was errected in 1959.

oh and check it out palm, it's just a few 100 yards from Mandelay Bay Convention Center!

Just throwing out anything I've found, doubt it's of relevance but on the http://www.library.unlv.edu/speccol/photographs/0049_lvnewsbureau.html site, there's a shot of the Las Vegas sign:

400 "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign on Las Vegas Boulevard South, south of the Hacienda Hotel. (c.1970s)

I wonder if we should be looking at other Las Vegas signs? I dunno, I seem to be veering off track a bit but I don't have many other ideas.

Could the schedule on the back of the PDF file be a schedule for an event?

About the FOOT of the video. Th part that we believe says Taycor or Taylor I think is wrong I think it says Tayco or Taylo and the r is alone with a quote sign. I.E. "R when I was playing with the frames I found the "R then another " after that with no R in the frame. This may be nothing.... I just wanted to put that out their. Now I need to sleep I have work very soon!

which ties in with what I'm worried about, if the convention center opened in April 1959 then I'm betting it opened on the 6th of April 1959 which is the date on the film if you read it as an American date.

This fact makes it even more likely that the lead in and out is simply a bit of sampled film from the LVNB as we now even know what the footage in question is probably of ie. the opening of the convention center Sad

I'm still hoping I'm wrong but maybe we should keep looking at the other clues as well just in case this is a dead end?

I am wondering if the mayor is going to have his celebration at the Las Vegas Convention Center. There is a calender and the dates and times we have on the letter make sense that it would be an all day convention with meeting times and speakers.

Trying to search the calender, but haven't found anything yet.

http://www.lvcva.com/meetings/convention-calendar.jsp

that would actually make sense, *fingers crossed*

That is so funny - I thought I was being ridiculous and up too long. I looked on mapquest and it is only 1 1/2 blocks away.

I wonder now where the other signpost is - on the wiki it states that there is another identical sign post that says "Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Lase Vegas" because the first sign really isn't in Las Vegas at all so they added the other sign with the word "downtown". I found a photo of it, but not the address of it yet. So now I am wonder if the letter is referring to the 2 signposts, they mean inbetween these 2 signs.

EDITED: MANDALAY BAY MENTIONED AGAIN - while trying to find out about the other twin sign, found out that it is placed at the edge of the real city limits of Las Vegas on Las Vegas Blvd. The Las Vegas Strip (also known as The Strip) is a 4 mi (6.7 km) section of Las Vegas Boulevard South. Only part of The Strip is located within the city limits of Las Vegas, Nevada: the section north of Sahara Avenue. The section south of Sahara Avenue is in Clark County's unincorporated Township of Paradise, Nevada. Boundaries: At the northern point of the Strip is the Stratosphere while Mandalay Bay marks the southern tip.

Another interesting thing is that I found on someone's blog a description of the "real" mayor of Las Vegas:

Quoting from BreezyJones blog:

"A word about our wonderful Mayor

We have the coolest Mayor in the World. One day you may see him on Fremont Street partying and hosting a Bombay gin party with show girls and scattered thugs and the next day he will be on TV asking the locals to donate blood because of a shortage."

So he parties in the streets, and our letter says there is much excitement in the streets.

Just a thought to keep in mind Fremont Street if the Las Vegas thing pans out.

Also the dominoes are stuck in my head. When they first appear we have.
White, White, Red, Black, White
one frame later the colors change to
Black, White, Red, Black, Black

When he knocks them down and you follow the path the last domino is black and it is a 1:4

ok well here's the order of the dominoes as they appear through the video, all together...

1) blue (alone, held in his hand), with white, blue, red, blue laid in a square, each pointing outward, on the table from (our) bottom left clockwise
2) white white(both laying down, he picks the 2nd one up) red blue white(each upright)
3) blue(1:4) white(3:5) red blue blue

so we have 3 blue, 1 white, 1 red
followed by 3 white, 1 red, 1 blue
followed by 3 blue, 1 white, 1 red

sometimes the blue may look black, but I think we can assume they're blue *shrug*

ETA: updated #1 and a bit more

Dominos

I had been looking into the domino's when I had noticed the numbers on the last fallen ones 3:5 and 1:4. I was trying to see what it could represent. I came up with some information on Pai Gow Poker. I don't play it and didn't really understand the rules. It referenced Military vs. Civilian tiles and how they beat each other. The hands/ tiles have names also. Do any of you play and know the rules and how this hand would play?

I feel like I can find some info. but then I can't figure it out. Sorry I don't seem to be able help so much. Sad

Thanks so much thebruce on the video Great Job!!!!

thebruce this is what I saw in the video regarding the dominoes it's the same as what you wrote except for the the first frame. The white domino is flat on the table then the black one is flat next to it. He is holding a black one in his right hand (our left) and it is horizontal. He is also holding a brown one in his left hand (our right) and he puts in down on the table (flat) and there is a black one flat on the table on the end.

So white flat, black flat, black in his hand, brown in his hand then put down flat on table, black flat on table.

Blue or Black I guess on your vision/computer.
Brown or Red same thing.

All I can find is the 'other' Las Vegas sign is loated on Harmon Avenue.

This, I'm sure is irrelevant but one of those coincidences - A musician called Juan Ramon with a debut album called Foot of Film. http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.nsf/webpages/ramondejuanx05x10x04
