Intellim Chat with Melody 5-31-04

Summary: Melody's computer has been hacked.
Melody had no idea about the string of code on her blog or the message in the stegged pic on The Amboy Monthly. Her bruise is slowly healing. She's been hiking the beautiful Amboy trails with Buster.

djr: well, the message decodes out to a video clip of you taping Marcus while he was on the phone with Jude.
djr: Who would have access to your camera?

djr: hold on Melody, I'll find the clip for you.
mheller: Ras and Sydney just gave it to me
djr: ok
mheller: Driz, I put that there for safe keeping I wasn't going to show that to anyone
djr: somebody found it
djr: who would benefit from getting that out?
mheller: no one...
mheller: there isn't anything there of importance
djr: well, this is strange indeed
mheller: What am I going to do?
djr: I'm not sure. I think you might want to check your computer and see if anything else has been hacked into
mheller: ok... ok ok okokokokoko
mheller: ooooh
djr: what happened?
mheller: I just can't think straight

mheller: What?
djr: did you put a pic with that article?
mheller: I chose the picture....
mheller: but there wasn't a message in it, how would I do that?
djr: is it the same picture that's on the article now?
mheller: y... yes...
djr: This was the message hidden in the picture "You found the Research notes, and I am hoping you will find this. I may need to use this method to contact you in the future. Be strong, be true to what you believe."
mheller: WHo put that there? How did they put that there? How did you know to find it three?
djr: Who wrote the caption..."This caption provided by Stegg Woman's Shelter". That was a hint that the picture was stegged.
mheller: Not me....
djr: is there a way of finding out who has been on or in your computer?
mheller: My computer is in my house... you don't thinks someone was in my house do you?
djr: I hope not
djr: i'm thinking maybe someone hacked it
djr: but why send such messages through you?
mheller: I don't know... Driz, I have always been a good person why are all these things happening to me?
djr: oh, Melody....we'll get to the bottom of this.

The message is

Theories about this:

1. Melody is lying and she really did it herself. But why would she? She wants us to find things indirectly that she can't point to any other way?

2. TOBI did it-- but why would it do this except to show that it could.

3. Thad did it-- does he know how? "be true to what you believe" sounds like him.

4. OE did it -- not as a message to us but as a message to agents. I suppose selling secrets for money can count as a belief...

5. Roddington-- he (or Palser as the fake Prof playing him before he went nuts) led us to the Research site. He also had a belief system which was against TOBI and what Ideltech was doing.

More theories

1. Thad and Melody are secretly working together. (which makes the "slap" incident a cover-up of the relationship) All of the links on Melody's research site go to support the Restorers values of privacy. We have only their word for what the relationship is and none of us have found that to be convincing in the past. Melody hates Marcus for several reasons and can continue to be working on the inside at Ideltech.

2. Melody could be working for OE. Same reasons as above: she hates Marcus and claims to value privacy. The claims of valuing privacy echo the misleading information in the OE website.

3. The role of the Professor is not clear yet. Why is he there if he didn't help develop TOBI?

4. Why show us the video now? We knew about it a while ago. We're we supposed to find it on Amboy Monthly but didn't? It shows the time when Marcus apologized to Melody about the AWARE employment game that she was caught up in. She videotaped him because he seemed to be telling her one thing about their relationship and telling us in chat other stuff about it. We never resolved the truth of this story-- their versions of what happened just conflict.

Thoughts anyone?
