Need Help in creating a For-Profit MMORPG/ARG
You may get paid if the project is succesful

Yes, you may get paid for helping me out. But that why I need your help. I got the backing of a club who basically told me to do it (for fundraising reasons), so that is what I did.

There is something I need to tell first: I can handle the coding for the MMORPG. Therefore, you don't need to know how to code in order to help. If you know how to PuppetMaster, you can work here.

While I can't spoil the whole backstory, what will happen is that players will find themselves inside of a civil war in a Third World Nations. Three factions will be feuding for control. Players can choose to work for these factions in order to help save this Third World Country from doom and deveastion. Or the players can create their own faction and plot takeover of the third-world nation for their own purposes. The gameplay may be pretty similar to the Deus City ARG.

Here's what I need:
-PMs who are good at interacting
-PMs who are good at making puzzles and overarchign mysteries.
-Possibly Web Site Designers and Forum Moderators (IG Forums will form a main component of the game). [However, this last category may be handled by me, so it is not as pressing.]

If you are interested, just post here or PM me. If you want, please include a small bio of your experience in ARGs.

I hope you help out here.

What do you mean by 'MMORPG' as they very hard to pull off. Infect there the holy grille of game design. do you mean some thing more like a mud or are you using some else mmorpg's engine and just build the ARG world with in it.

I'm also interested in knowing more about the MMORPG aspect. How would you pull something like that off?

Also, if you need someone solely for character interaction, I am totally your girl.

Okay, hm. To explain:

I did use the MMORPG buzzword as a way of getting people's interest and giving them the jist of what is going on without needing to explain what the game actually is...over and over. So I will be using the MMORPG buzzword over and over. Though, to be honest, it's not graphical, so one could call it a MUD...

I think it might be more accurate to think of it how like the Deus City interface works. You access a website where you go and you check around you find out what to do. When you find the missions you do, then you complete them how you would normally complete puzzles in an ARG. When you complete those puzzles, you get rewarded with money that you can then spend to boost your standings, curry favor with the factions, and eventually, buy weapons and supplies. Players play a role in the game as they compete to finish tasks and gain the valuable cash necessary to fufil their own personal goals and vendettas.

It's can also be seen as a combination of the online forum game and Interactive Ficition, but keeping the ARG's staple of "TINAG". Players don't post long rambling roleplaying posts though, they post as if they are actually there, speaking in an IG voice for or against such-and-such faction.

I hope this explains it well to anyone reading it. I do view it as an MMORPG due to the fact that it is massive, multiplayer, online, and you are roleplaying (yes, as yourself, but as also someone who believes the game world is real). I don't really think this will become very huge at all, but just a small number of people playing it constantly would be more than enough to make the project worthwhile. Niche markets can do well.

hey, I'd love to help out on this one.

I'm probably fit to interact with people and if you need any graphics, I may be able to crank some out (I've got a two hour photoshop class every Friday until December)

the thing with the "MMORPG buzzword" is that it makes you think of world of war craft. That why i asked. if its a mud you really need to say that as people get up set if they find a text game at end when they think it going to be a 1000 squire miles of HD 3D landscape.

that said it dose sound like good idea.

The ARG is free, but we are thinking of various ways to make money.

As for the creation of factions, you'll have to figure out how to do it within the game. Smile
