Bloop Chthulu Theory Please fill me in if this is completely flawed. I realize I'm new here and although I've spent hours sorting through past posts there is a lot of stuff to absorb. Please be patient.
I remembered the bloop from a while ago, and its location. Which is probably what clicked in my head when I was browsing the Tagruato website.
I thought at first that the big deal was the new offshore platform opening up near the eastern seaboard of North America.
However if you look at where the bloop was found, and then check the websites map, you can see that the Keiko platform is virtually right on top of it. It also makes mention that it is over the South Sandwich trench. Giving rise to more theories on that is that the trench itself is considered, "Meteor Deep". Odd consideration.
Also included in this is the lovely Jamie's constant mentions of stars and tides. Perhaps just simple metaphors, maybe more. Her religion however, is wiccan. Does that not encourage a bit more speculation and perphaps a touch of connection to the infamous D351?
I personally am on the fence about his actual involvement. If she/he's not I'm sure he/she's loving the fact that he can mess with the ignorant squares. I'm still trying to figure out the relevance of Candy Land on that intentionally blurry shelf of his/hers. There are other odd connections involving him I'm looking into, but I think thats about done.
Also, after you listen to the first 'major' sound in the trailer you can easily tell the eerie similarities to the bloop itself. A lot of this adds up to the mythos.
My personal biggest beef with this is that it is too easy to put together. Without knowing how deep the red herrings are swimming we can't really tell what will add up and what won't. It could be that easy and when the movie comes out, everyone who discredited it may walk around saying that they had it figured out from day one. That may not necessarily be the truth. Without linking the proper meanings to the proper clues, or even identifying the clues themselves its impossible. The fact that there is this much information and yet nothing concrete irritates me. You can put together as much as you want but without a solid fact behind it, it could be anything. Until the day where there is a big reveal it could all change.
I realize that the theory has been chucked around that it is the big green guy for a long time now and I'm not saying its everyone's least favorite Elder God. I'm saying its a direction to look into and so far, the only really concrete thing I've seen that adds up constantly.
I don't suppose someone could bring me up to speed quickly around here based off of how either "way off" or "getting close" I am on this stuff? I'm still not sure what the dis-proven theories are entirely.
Does anyone have anything in regards to the guy in the picture with the recipe? There has to be more to it then the "Seabed Nectar" reference.
And isn't that Rob in bed with Jamie? Those sideburns are hard to miss.
Any help/suggestions/thoughts would be much appreciated.

Although i agree with you about the whole bloop thing. What does any of that have to do with Cthulu?

welcome to uF
The chef on the pic was the guy who created the recipe on the back of the card.
I highly doubt that it was Rob in bed with Jamie. Go here for that discussion http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21622

This might help:
"However if you look at where the bloop was found, and then check the websites map, you can see that the Keiko platform is virtually right on top of it."
Unless I did something wrong(which isn't impossible) Bloop isn't close to Keiko platform or any other station.

I agree; besides I doubt JJ would be making a movie about Cthulu when there's already another one in the works...?

I agree, if anything i think all the links to Cthulu are just red herrings. I doubt it will be another Cthulu movie.

I consider Cthulhu to be just another of JJ's inspirations. He's named Godzilla and King Kong in a context of influences, there's no reason the mysterious bloop and Cthulhu can't be others. From some of his other elements like "It's alive!" we can see that he likes to use even small references to other past sci-fi and monster cinema.

Thanks for the assistance so far.
I do want to point out though that I said it likely wasn't the one who's name we can't speak. I said it could be inspired from that. I doubt it would be directly done like that.
Number one piece of evidence against Chthulu would be the guy running down the street screaming, "I saw it, its alive, its huge," or whatever it is. Not, "MY GOD ITS THE MOST HORRIFIC THING I'VE EVER SEEN AND NOW I'M GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WETTING MY SELF AND GIBBERING INCOHERENTLY!"

Wouldn't they just be doing that if they saw him?
Or maybe would they be running down the street bludgeoning people with a torn off human limb shouting "I see forever!"?

If I'm right, then the movie Cthulhu is not actually about Cthulhu. It's based more off of H. P. Lovecraft's story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." It may mention Cthulhu, but we're not going to be seeing him in that movie. So as to the question of Cloverfield being about Cthulhu, that movie doesn't rule it out. But, sadly, other things do.
