Hi there-- I've gotten to the same point you have... and am likewise stuck.

I'm reasonably certain that the word on the second sign is not Alegria, but either Aleira or Aleisa. I've googled both words, to no avail.

One funny, but probably unintentional red herring was from a sponsored listing at Aleisa.com: something about "the last domino falling" in regards to war with Iraq.

(For the curious, it led to this page: http://www.energyandcapital.com/aqx_p/2199. I couldn't find anything connecting it to the game.)

I'd be surprised if waiting were an integral part of this game, but stranger things have happened. It would, indeed, be a smart marketing move.

In the meantime I'm going to continue to over-analyze #7 :)

Possible clue for Video 7?

Well, I remember we were having a hard time with "Hospidaje"? Well, I just found the hosting server for CarniceriaGuzmam.com using whois

Verio Inc. - Growing Your Business, One Click At A Time

which leads to:

http://www.verio.com/

Not sure if it means anything, but lets keep looking maybe?

EDIT: Ok, Verio is the State's hosting service, lets move that information over to the UK shall we? Looks like thier UK partner is:
http://www.ntteuropeonline.com/

Maybe we should ask information about Guzmam?

Re: Advertisement First - Game Second

Like Mr X, I also have been following this promotion from the interest in advertising perspective and it is obvious the marketers creating this game had no idea there are such clever souls who embrace this such as all of you.

I think they want to make sure and get the most bang for their buck with this. If they didn't slow you down, it would be solved by now.

I don't think this was intended to be a week long endeavor and they need to rein all of you in so that the casual fan can enjoy the chase before it is solved.

I figured that is what is going on -

From an advertising point of view, these types of ads are new and in their infancy and I think there is something to be learned by the programmers with each one that has been done already. For example, Save My Husband had a $20,000.00 prize to be divided between the winners, but they never thought that so many people would sign up and win (they had a major TV ad so I don't know what they were thinking) - and the prize turned out to be only $4.19 and the postage they had to pay to mail out all the checks weren't in the budget. Then there was the golden jigsaw in the uk whereas for some reason he thought that he could threaten people in the game and on the internet, then there was covet that embraced people on the internet forums with their 3 month long contest only to have someone who played only 1 day win the grand prize of $10,000.00. But like I said, these games are in their infancy, and programmers are just now learning, and they have all been very very fun to play regardless.

I find it kind of ironic, that people who cant even win, are pushing this game along.

So, GUINNESS MARKETING TEAM I KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS, I think you should just break some international contest laws and give us those prizes Wink

You got to give it to them, this has been a very well-produced game. Websites are clever, and overall it's pretty creative.

I swear, the UK really is the leader in ARG creation.

Prizes start this Friday...

checking the Game's Terms of Service reveals that there will be weekly prizes offered starting on November 2nd and running until December 7th. Prizes include Guinness branded glass packs, mugs, pint aprons, pint oven gloves, luxury chocolate truffles, Pint bottle opener key rings, Toucan key rings, Toucan luggage tags, playing cards and egg cup sets for 175 lucky people each week. It also indicates the official name of the campaign is the "Guinness Tipping Point".

The grand prize for completing all the puzzles is a solid gold domino, awarded randomly to a participant who registers and successfully completes all 11 clues. However, don't get too excited -- the contest portion of this alternate reality game is only open to mainland UK residents over the age of 18.

I knew it had to be part of a larger campaign. That would explain the waiting, and clearly this won't be the only point where we have to wait.

Anyone else have trouble registering?

Oh, it was pretty bad - to the point of saying that no - one could discuss the game at all - in the whole wide world on the internet - tried to police the internet unsuccessfully and also tried to police leaders of forums - and even sent threating letters to people (one is posted somewhere on the unfiction forum). He changed the rules on the game as he went along, and never sent out notices of any changes - ultimately, hardly anyone bought his advertisments, and the whole game fell apart.

Prizes

Please, please, please - managers of this game - I know I can't win the golden domino, but can I have a Toucan key ring? It sounds really cute.

I can't believe a legitimate game would do this kind of thing! But maybe it wasn't all that legitimate, huh.

WAITING
Contest Rules

Looking more closely at the Contest Rules listed on the website I became somewhat encouraged that the waiting cannot be too long-

"To eligible to win you must have successfully completed all 11 clues on the website and have registered your details on the site... You will then automatically be put into a prize draw for the solid gold domino prizes. A winner will be chosen weekly on a Friday for 6 weeks starting on 2nd November 2007"

If the first drawing is Nov 2 AND you must have solved all 11 clues -doesn't that mean they have to allow it to be solved before then?

el che

is there some way of painting the bull? i've been following everyones progress since last night as best i can. i'm working in a pub right no and so i've been doing this between serving, and you guys have helped me so much so thanks!
but domino 7 is killing me! i'm sure that it must have to do with the bull the picture title is black bull so maybe find the white bull?

i love this way of advertising though, and with the dominos and tipping and title i'm guessing it must all tie in with the way guinness is poured.
also, forgive my ignorence but what does ARG stand for/mean?

ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game. As for what it means? Whoo boy. There are fairly frequent discussions of that on other sections of the website, but read the wikipedia page for an idea (I'm fairly sure I'd mess up any explanation, myself)
