The search for missing founder Steven Somers concluded today when authorities located him on a remote island lab south of the Miami Shores Archipelago. Authorities arrived on sight to find a brutal massacre. "It was like one of those low budget horror films," said Miami Shores officer Timothy Jackson. "You know, those slasher films where the walls are smothered with blood." Jackson also said that some of the corpses had their heads shaved eyes sewn shut, and were dangling upside down in straightjackets.
All of the bodies found were Mortems, identifiable by the Fear's Crucifix tattooed behind their left ears.
Authorities were also shocked to find one Mortem still alive—wanted fugitive Rita Cornwallis stumbled into the officers' sight, but her appears was so grotesque that an officer panicked and shot her on sight. Also found dead was Albert Faust, Cornwallis' partner in crime, hacked apart by what appeared to be a kukri sword. No such sword was found on the premises.
Remarkably, Steven Somers was found alive and unharmed, sitting on the edge of a table in a dissociative state. A hint to the laboratory's purpose was also found in a locked room, where 48 decaying bodies were found. No charges have been filed.

Route 71 is completely cut off. Car wrecks and debris.
Thank God Steven has some carjacking skills (although its weird). He said they came in handy during an escape in 2012. Something about a hospital under seige. I managed to hold off long enough with my shotgun, but those Windigo scratched me up pretty bad. It's all flesh wounds, but they burn like hell.

No, they're just stinging from the salt in the air.
I asked him about the island in 2013... he changed the subject. I get the feeling that he's being evasive. As for learning how to jack cars, he simply hotwires them. Not hard to do, but he's a pro at it. From what I understand though, he hotwired a friends Ferarri back in 2012. Some maniac went nuts at the hospital he was staying in. It later turned out that his friend had died.

Since I'm in my apartment, hiding under a blanket while I wait for The Soldier to come hack me to little pieces, I thought I thought I'd indulge in some wild speculation: Did Steven see The Soldier that day on the island? I'm gonna ask Sam to ask him.







UPDATE:
I asked him. Here's the response (most recent emails at the top):

Sam:
To be honest, I'm suprised that a copy of the article even exists. A gag order was issued hours after the first article was printed. Supposedly, all unsold newsapaper copies were destroyed. It was supposedly done to protect the good name of the Reconstruction Founders (where would we be without them? That newspaper wouldn't even be running...)
But the involvement of a founder in the mess made national headlines for a brief while. It's unknown who the test subject was, if he survived, or if they even ever found him. Even if they did, they would never prosecute someone for a crime they had no control over (they were hallucinating and being held against their will--would you prosecute them?)

Me:
Sam, did they every find the test subject who went nuts? This article suggests that the ONLY survivor was Steven.

Sam:
I remember that. And I know what Island you're talking about now... You're talking about the Mortems' Reaper Project. They eventually concluded that one of their test subjects killed the staff after suffering from a hallucigenic fit.
Listen, getting into contact with New England may be dicey tomorrow. There's a hurricane coming in. This building should hold; if not, we have that Mustang Steven hijacked.

The reason I asked you to talk to Seven about the island is that we found this article: (the decoded article about the island massacre)
We thought that the events that took place on the Island that day might offer clues about what is happening now.

Apparently Steven was the one in the hospital. He won't say why though, and when I asked about the Soldier, he screamed at me, telling me to "Never ask about him again," that the Soldier had "nothing to do with what happened on the island," and that "dwelling on that subject could get me killed."
Needless to say, I left the room and went into the back. He's pretty pissed; I won't be asking about that situation again.

That's horrible. Was Steven in the hospital or his friend?
I hate to ask you for favors given the horrible situation you're in, but would you please ask Steven about The Soldier? He might have seen him on the island in 2013.

I had thought that maybe the slaughter of all the mortemists and deahnists on the island had been carried out by The Soldier. I guess I'm wrong. This game keeps getting better and better!

It's a name I use instead of Macavity, although part of it is derived from real life (I actually am a security officer Smile ). But being killed off . . . ? Major WTFage there.

 		Someone named Trisha has left messages on both Sam and Steven's myspace pages saying "Help. Please.". Trisha's myspace page is: http://www.myspace.com/rosewaterrosebed. The only thing of interest on her page I can find is this picture. I can't read the text in the image, but the filename is interesting. Some kind of code perhaps?

She's in Gray's Point. Sam just told me she's in there somewhere, and that there is a code in the picture. He didn't say 'in the picture title', he said 'in the picture, although I think the title is, indeed, coded. The picture is of a Tarantella- the things that scratched Sam while Steven was hotwiring the car.
I can't see the writing in the picture. Can anyone else?

I can't believe Dr. Carter would hesitate to rescue Steven... then again, if Echinocogna is really here, that's reason enough for us to make it on our own. Thanks for the info.
By the way, I noticed a peculiar message on my myspace. Looks like someone else is alive in Gray's Point. But all she said is "Help. Please." Steven got the same message. On her profile, there's a picture of one of those Tarantella thingies... it's very weird. Her name is Trisha. How she managed to stay live I don't know... to top it off, it's got a weird code in the picture. I'm no good at those...

Tell him that we have found out what's going on, but on His caution, we are not sending military aid. But help is coming. It's just a matter of getting to the city that'll be a problem.
We know two things:
1. Echinocogna is involved.
2. He was summoned by someone inside the city limits.
3. Anyone who enters Gray's Point will most likely die.
