Yah, you're probably right. Bummer. I was thinking it was going to go all 'planet of the apes'.
Toxic: not exactly, more like there was some shared cultural heritage from way way way in the past...the same way Spanish and Italian have linguistic similarities because they both came from Latin. Sort of like in Battlestar Galactica (forgive the reference Wink )

Almost like the belief that (for instance) an alien race planted the first seeds of life on Earth as well as influenced part of its progression, and in doing so also the same alien race also did the same for Alvyurins planet?

I realize youre talking cultural "parents" if you will or more clearly, origins. That is an interesting Idea.. we do share striking similarities for two completely separated planets. Technology just being one of them... maybe you could actually be on to something?

Day 24: I was extremely impressed with Davadron today. The Hedges are

strange creatures, but he was able to negotiate with them with patience
and
skill. His range of talents is astounding. Well, in any case these
talks were
also successful. The Hedges want leaves from the trees, and in return
they
have agreed that we own the bees who nest in them. Now comes the tricky
part.

Day 25: It worked. We did it. We made it happen. I still can't believe
it.

The Blues and Hedges finally met today. Davadron brought them together.
The
Blues want honey, of course, and they do it by stealing the entire
hive. But
that destroys the bees, and the Hedges have promised the bees to us.
And the
Hedges want leaves, but the harvesting kills the trees...which the
Blues have
promised to us. So either faction pursuing their goals would violate
the
treaties made by the other one. And neither wants to get into that
conflict.

The real truth, of course, is that they were already connected and they
didn't
realize it. Without leaves, the trees die and stop providing the sugary
food
to the bees, who also die. Without bees to sting the herbivorous
animals of
the forest, the trees would have their leaves eaten and also die. The
two life
forms have evolved together. The flower stalks provide the bees with
food and
homes. The bees having learned to build their homes in the trees,
defend them.

The Blues and Hedges have to work together. We're going to try to find
a way
that they can get what they want without destroying everything. No, we
*will*
find a way. We can harvest *some* leaves and *some* honey, without
killing
anything. This is a lesson we will *make* them learn.

And now Davadron is organizing a celebration that I should attend.

Day 27: Now that this expedition is coming to a close, I'm thinking
about
everything that's happened to me. It's hard to believe it all happened
in less
than a [month]. I started out just a girl who liked books and studying
plants
and animals. And now I've become something like a leader. Davadron and
I were
able to do what I thought was impossible, preserve these beautiful life
forms.
I know we'll have a great future together, like a spider jumping into
the
unknown but keeping a connection to the knowledge we've already gained.

I can't wait to see where he and I will go next.

 		Finally some new content. Both Jedditor and Alvyurin have updated their blogs. It looks like they've made a new discovery.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Typing "whisper" or "monument" or "rings" into the query box will take you to the puzzle.

It looks like some kind of base-8 gadget (despite wht Jedditor says). The outer two rings are geometric sequences that wrap back around to zero whenever 8 is passed (hence the base-Cool. Perhaps an octal to decimal converter of some kind? I dunno.

The numbers are Fibonacci, but on an 8 number scale instead of ten (base 8? Is that how you say that? Sorry, I only know it from music, not math)

or 0=1=1,1+1=2, 2+1=3, 3+2=5, 5=3=8 (which is 0), 8(or0)+5=5, 5+5= 2(because it's base 8 so 10 is 2), 2=5=7, 7+2=1 (because it's base 8 so 9 is 1)

etc etc

Perhaps the answer to the puzzle is to complete the Fib sequence for the smallest circle. It would just be a repeat of the top circle...

EDIT:
I can't get those stupid rings to move, even though I get a 'hand' when I mouse over them. Any luck?

hmph.. im not a math pro here.. could the numbers be translated to letters?

EDIT: Ok, im updating my thinking here.. Im starting to think this puzzle could be a different form of the magic square (Magic Rings?). Im thinking that the point is to line up the numbers so they all have the same sum, even the ones with 3 numbers (3, 7 in the middle), BUT it has to remain in the same order (obviously).. let me show you an example to better explain it:

 		Which puzzle is this clue in reference to? the Columbus one or the new Ring puzzle?

...well seeing as though the Ring Puzzle doesnt have letters, Im thinking this is in reference to the Columbus one?


EDIT: Dont you guys find it odd that Alvyurin brings up the fact that in our language, numbers can be translated to letters and vice versa... then we get a coded hint saying we found the numbers and some letters and now we have to take them apart? Do you think these two subjects are related to the same puzzle?
