The Watchmaker

The watch advert keeps popping up _ its on the Autos de Taller website and the paper website.

So far all I can read (with a massive squint!) is

El Relojero (The Watchmaker)
Diseltos de Guirardo Buitrage ( ? of 'someones name')

Tried Spanish dictionary but cant find translation for Diseltos, maybe I have misread it as its in italics..

Might be a long shot but at this point we have a little time on our hands! (sorry for the pun!)

I found a double six domino site http://www.guiradobuitrago.com/# looks like another site that hasn't been opened. Has anyone notice the number 9 on the steaks, number 8 on the ham and the sausages layed out as a 3?? coincidence??

UPDATE 2 November 2007:
We have now reached Domino 8 after many hours of play!

Guinness seems to have made a few changes to the site(s) to make it very slightly easier by enhancing gameplay - the looking glass now has a + and -, you can get back to the videos by clicking on the projector... They are definitely listening to feedback!

We are stuck at Domino 8 now and it also seems that the game might be timed to coincide with some event. This seemed to be reinforced after we sent an email to the address provided in the last site and received this reply:

"Hola!

Thanks for your email to Pedro Guzmam. He has been expecting you and will be very glad that you have found him!

Pedro has gone for a very important meeting with Juan Ramon (the mayor).

He will be back in the next few days with some important information for you!

Cosas buenas llegan a los que esperan!

Carnicerķa Guzmam"

"Cosas buenas llegan a los que esperan!" means Good things come to those who wait!

We also found some clues on a newspaper leading us to a site with a misic jukebox which must be meant for a later domino as we received this reply on an email:

"We specialise in retro music.

We remember the order in which things happen.

Those who forget the past, often make the same mistakes twice!"

It is all delightfully mysterious...

Ask your quetions below. We are Team DT and we will try to answer without giving too much away.

Help Reading a 6 digit number
Assist

On the "Newspaper Site" there seems to be a six digit number on the watch to the left, but I cannot make the numbers out on this little monitor of mine.

Can someone with a nice monitor please take a look.

That was on the source code of http://www.guiradobuitrago.com/#

also, so is this, i think it means that wen we unlock the flash player we will have to open one of the watches...

Quote:
It's often said that Guirado Buitrago himself has the personality of a watch, being the small, intricate and difficult piece of machinery that he is.

Unsurprisingly, this has never stood in the way of his craft. On the contrary, his idiosyncratic and forthright nature has been the driving force behind a three-decade-long quest for the perfect timepiece.

As a young boy Guirado was always fascinated by the way in which things work. His deconstructive nature led to the demise of many household items, including the family's grandfather clock!

Later, Guirado's incessant curiousity would turn into full-blown passion as he undertook a seven-year internship with a Swiss watchmaker, who showed him patience, precision, and the importance of doing everything in exactly the right order.

and this:

Quote:
The satisfying tick of a Buitrago timepiece is rivaled only by the beauty of its inner workings"

and this:

Quote:

Tick Followed Tock

Buitrago's watches are his only children. When one stops ticking, his world slows to a halt and he can think of nothing beyond restoring it to working order. Feast your eyes on the exquisite beauty of his extended (and extraordinarily healthy) family here.

If you're looking for something in particular, not represented here, try counting to 119.5 seconds, then looking again. If you're still not satisfied, get in touch for assistance.

What do you all think. i think its fairly obvious that we have to do something with the inside of the watch, but we cant yet....

Edited to change spoilers to quotes, no real solves to hide here - Redhatty

I just noticed that this morning. I have not noticed it before so don't know if that is new, or always been like that. Just this morning I was wondering if it was a glitch in the flash or always like that. Does anyone else remember if it was like that before or not?

Where are you seeing this. I just looked at the meat on the Guzmam's site and I don't see anything that looks like a number. I still think the 6 meats may have something to do with it , but don't see what you are seeing. I don't have a steak, top middle - my steak link is to the side on the bottom.

Do you have photoshop? Can you trace it or circle it and upload it?

The domino he holds up (5-5) has been the same every time. I'm starting to think that (good things come to those who wait) is the phrase we should all be thinking about now. I think there may be an automated email soon enough with further instructions.

Hm. Hidden in the source of the newspaper page are the following roman numerals:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<CCLIVCDLIX>

This could be considered to be two three-digit numerals. Inputting that brings me BACK to the Carniceria Guzmam film!

Not sure if this is a red herring or what, but I figured it warranted sharing :)

Yes, but CapKing found the site early last Oct. 28th, so tommorrow will be a week of waiting already. Patience isn't my virtue.

So while I wait, tried to do some codes by the meat (since there are 6 meats).

Looking at meat #1 - Chorizo - could be a #2 (2 groups of meat hanging) or could be a #3 (3 sausages of a different color on the right hanging).

Looking at meat #2 - Salchichon - could be a #6 (6 distinct sausages in front row right side that are more cooked than the others), or could be a #4 (4 distinct sausages in front row right side that are more cooked than others)

Looking at meat #3 - Jamon - #6 (6 hams)

Looking at meat #4 - Pollos - #2 (2 chickens)

Looking at meat #5 - Piernas - #4 (4 chicken legs)

Looking at meat #6 - Y Mas - #4 (4 prominiate steaks or 4 tomatoes), or #2 (2 darker steaks) or #1 (1 full dark steak)

So using these possiblities, tried the following codes which none of them worked.

346241
346244
346242

246241
246244
246242

366241
366244
366242

266241
266244
266242

Also tried by looking at the meat:
638191
238249
