I stand corrected about the streaming video. Thanks Dennis. It was just my understanding from what I read, not all the details, and from memory hadn't double checked it.
They were planning on carrying over the crappy residuals from DVD to mobile and download content though correct?

I think we'll find out don't worry ....and if not it will be one of the great movie mysteries like what was in the case in Pulp Fiction

I realize that the writers involvement in the movie at this point would be limited, but wouldn't they still have rights associated with the movie? Just because the movie is in post, I don't think we're in the clear.
Honestly, I think I could wait for cloverfield a while longer, but if Lost isn't back on... that's a paddlin'. and by paddlin', i mean a murderous rampage.
Anyone able to silence these fears for me?

SOOO SLOW! i cant believe this arg (if i can call it that) has slowed down so much that the most intresting thing on the forum, is this topic. one about the fear of writers striking may affect the time it takes for a movie to come out that has already been filmed.
Oh, and about the fear of no more jamie clips, i really wouldnt worry bout it, have you seen the writing in that? i doubt it has writers.

There may be no shortage of writers anywhere, but Hollywood has a history of honoring any writers' strike. Any studio who chooses to buck the union and hire scabs -- whether for TV or the movies -- will be blacklisted permanently by not only the Writers' Guild, but also the SAG and the directors...in short, those studios won't get ANY writers, directors, or actors willing to work for them ever again.
So it's not a hollow threat on the WGA's part. This isn't like a UAW strike, where scabs willingly cross the picket line and (Republican) America cheers them on and thumbs their noses at the union....this is about creativity. It's about writing that's worth a damn, versus writing that isn't.
Simply put: if you've got great screenwriters on your popular show or your movie, and all of a sudden the scripts start stinking like they're written by a bunch of high-school English teachers, then the fans start to notice. And they tune out. And you've lost your business.

J.J. Abrams ranks among the multihyphenates caught in the crossfire of a writers strike hitting just as he's set to start helming a feature, Par's "Star Trek" franchise revival that's set to begin lensing Wednesday. Abrams said he would honor his contractual obligation to work as a director on the pic but would render no writing services. And in his downtime, he plans to spend time on Melrose Avenue joining such chants as "Who's got more money than they can count? Paramount."
"If I didn't stand with my fellow writers, I'd feel it in my gut," Abrams said.
Seems like J.J. has plenty of time on his hands, enough time to wonder around aimlessly and not worry about the movie he's actively involved with...

Does this mean the end of the Cloverfield ARG? Will we get no more updates until this is resolved?
There is a distinct lack of competent writing in the latest part of this viral marketing campaign. We've gotten some good information from Tagruato, but the Bold Futura fiasco was a huge disappointment, if by chance it was legitimate (which I doubt). It just sucks to get this far and find out that Abrams is honoring the strike. It probably means several weeks without anything new.
