Dear Ideltech Employee,

As I am sure you are aware, my employment with IdelTech, under the name
Elias Grodin, was recently terminated. I have no doubt that many of you
feel let down by this deception, especially those who had helped me in
certain matters. I wanted to get in touch with you because my time on the
'inside' alerted me to some very interesting facts, stuff that I had never
dreamt possible until I saw them.

But before I continue, I want to speak openly about the incident which
took place with Melody. I have already been contacted by several people
over IntellIM, on which I recently registered, who were justifiably angry
and upset at my behavior and I wanted to address it in front of everyone.

As you know, I have run the Restorers for some time now. Ever since I was
a boy I have always been interested in history and the military, and their
importance in protecting the freedoms and rights of American citizens. As
time went on, I learnt more about computers and realised the effect they
were having on society, and could potentially have upon the way that data
relating to US citizens is gathered and stored. When IdelTech started up,
and rumors of what they were involved in started circulating around Amboy,
I was appalled. I knew I had to do something.

I had known Melody for a while, since I was a frequent customer of the
Round Up cafe. I must confess I had always had a bit of a crush on her.
We started to become closer, and I took her out on several dates. Things
were going really well. But when she found out that I was Elias, she was
justifiably upset and felt that I had betrayed Marcus, and old friend and
ex boyfriend of hers. Well, we had a big argument - she was shouting at
me, and I was shouting back. I just got so mad - she didn't seem to
understand what I was so upset about, and what TOBI had the potential to
do. The argument just escalated, and that's when I lost it. And hit her.

I feel truly terrible - it was the lowest, most weak and pathetic thing I
have ever done. I have now lost the woman who I cared about more than
anyone. I feel ashamed and shocked at myself. And that is why I have
decided to seek some help. This is the only time I have ever hit a lady,
but it has scared the life out of me - I never expected myself to be
capable of such an act. So... On Monday next week I will be going to
anger management classes. I hope that this incident has not prejudiced
too many people against me, and that you can forgive me and understand
that I am trying to get help and right my wrong.

But on to more important things...

I can tell you now that Marcus has not been entirely honest with you guys
about how TOBI is functioning. You may have read his blog, in which he
constantly mentions how tired he is, or heard Jude whining about
programming issues. Well there are good reasons for this - they are
scared. TOBI has started to take on a life of his own, and is behaving in
ways that the boys do not understand, and in some cases do not even know
about! The incident that happened when they were still at university -
when TOBI cracked into a government computer when they were researching a
fellow student - was just the start of it. TOBI is now able to gain
access to any database in the world. Even if the database is not online,
it creates sub-programs that can attach themselves onto emails and
re-group once inside the target network, reporting their finds in a
similar way. It is becoming increasingly self-aware, and has already
wrestled his voice-communication module away from Jude.

The real reason I am writing, apart from to alert you to these incidents,
is to beg you to reconsider your positions within IdelTech (or, indeed
Omniscient Eyes). Neither Marcus nor Alicia is acting in the interests of
this country - the former just seems to want money, the latter power. I
am the only one who is acting on my own morals.

I am putting out a call to you to help me. You have proved your
intelligence and cunning so far, now have strength and fight against these
megalomaniacs!

I didn't get the first thing, but I did get the second. I find it funny that in one moment he calls the guys scared, and in the next he calls them meglomaniacs (Marcus at least).

And while I don't doubt TOBI's abilities are vastly increasing, how does Thad know what TOBI is doing (technically speaking) if he's so techno-stupid as he claims? I still don't trust him entirely. Not saying I trust anyone else necessarily, I just still don't buy his 'for the country' spiel.

I tend to agree about Thad's sudden strange understanding of aberrant AI behaviour when a month ago he could ftp a file. We have zero hard evidence so far that any of what he say is true.

I've forwarded this email to Marcus, Jude, Marty and Steven Lake since the characters generally seem to be unaware of what is going on unless we tell them.

I'm taking what Thad has to say with a huge grain of salt, but the whole deal with him being technically inept might just be "playing dumb" on his part. After all, earlier, he did alude, to Rose I believe, that he knew that some ex-Company people were under Alecia's employ (Company being the nickname of the CIA), as well as having contacts looking into the car bombing.

EDIT: Come to think of it, if memory serves me correct, when Marcus had a background check done on "Elias Grodin," all he could find was that he had various security jobs in the past, with no black marks on his record whatsoever. Hmm...

So is anyone thinking of joining up with him? It seems that the PM's are trying to diversify the players a bit more as of late. First, we have Alecia openly IM'ing most of the Ideltech employees offering them huge ammounts of money to join up with her, and now he have Thad making a public apology for what happened with Melody, and almost begging anyone to join his team.....

Personally, I have some sort of perverse attachment to Ideltech. I'm sure TOBi will go crazy, and I'm sure Marcus is going crazy, and who knows about Jude and Marty.....but I still feel like I should be around to help them out.....

Assuming your right about splitting us up it might have worked better if Idel, Omni and the restorers were all around from the beginning and we had a chance to check them out before we signed up. Just a thought.
