Khodorkovsky Khodorkovsky
Tagruato CEO to be honored at Pacific Oil Conference
Tagruato CEO Ganu Yoshida will leave the Pacific Oil Conference this year with more than just a belly full of gourmet hors d'oeuvres. He will be honored with the Khodorkovsky Award for innovation. The award is a long time coming. Ganu's introduction of the Tagruato deep sea drilling techniques has revolutionized off-shore drilling, and has put his company on the brink of mega success.
Ganu will accept the award at a gala ceremony on the conference's final day. "I have to give a speech," commented Ganu. "They hope for me to tell my secrets. They will get none."
The POC takes place between September 17th and 20th in Reno, Nevada.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Khodorkovsky
Mikhail Borisovich Khodorkovsky (Russian: Михаи́л Бори́сович Ходорко́вский; born June 26, 1963) is a Russian businessman, a former Komsomol activist who became one of Russia's oligarchs at a very early age. He was later convicted for fraud and tax evasion and received a 9-year sentence. As of 2004, Khodorkovsky was the wealthiest man in Russia, and was the 16th wealthiest man in the world, although much of his wealth evaporated because of the collapse in the value of his holding in the Russian petroleum company YUKOS.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you read the whole Wiki you can see Khodorkovsky is a real shady character, wierd to use him as an award figurehead. Unless you are emphasising the hidden dark side of Tagruato.

Tagruato Lions win Little League Championship
The Tagruato Lions Little League Team are victors once again! For the third straight summer, the Slusho! fueled Lions became league champs after defeating the Nishio Dragons by way of forfeit. The game was called midway through the 4th inning, with the Lions already leading 18-0 thanks to four homeruns by slugging first baseman, Fudo Goto, 11.
"I hit the ball far," said a jubilant Fudo following the game.
Lions pitcher Masakuzo Endo (8-0) had nine strike outs and thirteen hit batsman. Nishio coach Geoff Jingle was forced to forfeit after he looked to his bench and found no Dragons brave enough to step to the plate.

Could this be a shout out to Jeff Jingle - (animatronic engineer and puppeteer)

He worked on Buffy as did the Writer (Drew Goddard) of Cloverfield. Could he have worked on Cloverfield?

I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Katsume Ichiban From the Tagruato message machine.
Thank you for calling Tagruato. All of our lines are currently busy.
If you are calling regarding the [Katsume Ichiban?] memorial service, all seats have been filled, and registration is now closed.
For all other concerns, please leave a message, and one of our representatives will find you as soon as possible.
One meaning of Ichiban:
From Japanese, meaning "first," or "number one."
Ichiban meaning 1 or "the best"
KATSUMI: Japanese name meaning "victorious beauty
KATSUMI: Japanese name meaning "victorious beauty.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's of interest if the intention of that name is to mean "the first" to die or go missing.

I'm not hearing that name. I'm hearing more these sounds:
Kitsune Ishikawa.
I think its mispronounced to a phonetic English spelling to aid in finding the name. If its at all important, and not just another authentic sounding name.
Kitsune is a Mythological fox creature. Assosicated with being a messenger, trickster, and wife / lover. Also: Kuzunoha, mother of Abe no Seimei , is a well-known kitsune character in traditional Japanese theater.
Ishikawa diagrams are part of a famous management theory originated in Japan.
(Emphasis Mine)
Edit to add http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_no_Seimei
Could this be a basis for our Doctor Abe?

Its not uncommon to find westerners in Japanese professional baseball, the same may hold true for the best of the best in Little League too. The Little League World Series gets bigger every year it seems. My guess is that its western origin is probably of little significance. Maybe he just works for Tagruato.

I've listened to this in Audacity with a few tweaks, and my conclusion is that the name is Katsumi Ishikawa. This is also the only name that gives Google results when restricted with quotations, and as seen before the other names correctly cited yield massive and inscrutable results. The name is meant to be common enough that we are not likely to find information based on it alone, or at least that would seem to be how they've been doing things.

Katsumi Ishikawa :
A Japanese TV writer or a Published scientist aon the subject of hot springs or an inventor with patents on switching devices (maybe the same person). Interesting possibilities.
I wonder, would they really say someone who is pretty prominent like that has died? That's why I was lead to think in terms of Kitsune.

I did a little 'fun with names' quite a while back.
See here:

Some of the names almost seem to pan out to something now.

The name 'Lena Dia' got me thinking about the meaning of names.
Lena Dia translates roughly (as most names do) to 'Brilliant Day'
Other of the women's names yield some funny things.
Beth McIntyre is 'God's Promise from a Carpenter's Son'
Lily Ford would be something like 'Flowers in the Shallow Passage'
The oddest I think, Jamie Lascano 'Supplanter of Lazkao'
I didn't check out the guy's names yet, not sure if I'll bother.
