Nope. I was updating the clue on the previous page while you posted that response.

That new image should be easy to find, the actor is someone I predict will be an international star-- even well-known in the US-- before all is said and done. He's very, very famous in Japan as is the star of this film.

Looks like Sonny Chiba (of Kill Bill fame)... but the guy's been in about 130 films... so i'm just going to take a shot in the dark here with the only other film I've seen with him in it:

No, this actor is much younger than Sonny Chiba.

I found another copy of the same still which is clearer, I think.

It occurs to me that posting the same still twice may not be that helpful. The actor above is instantly recognizable if you know him - but isn't that the same for everything?

I'm going out for a few hours (hope to be here for the PM chat in Eldritch Errors) so I'm going to post the final clues now.

I may not know that particular film/version of the story, really, but I do know the whole blind swordsman bit.

So I guess the young man is Tadanobu Asano. I shall keep your prediction in mind in the years to come Very Happy

To be exact, it's from the 2003 Zat�ichi. There have been several Zat�ichi films over the years.

ETA: Although I did prefer this one to some of the older movies.

I remember him from playing a hitchhiker in "Tales of the Unexpected" (seen that in 1980, must have made some impression) and IMDB tells me it is Cyril Cusack.
